    I Broke the locking hub

So, I was changing front axle ujoints for the first time ever on my 85. Had no clue what I was doing and disassembled the hub locking mechanism. Well, when I went to out it back together I broke the little plastic tabs that hold the selector dial into the spring cup. Are these available...

    4L80e issues!

Thanks. That's exactly what it sounds like. Crap :( The whole point of the 80e swap was longevity...so much for that!

    4L80e issues!

Hey guys, Need some help. 4l80e in my truck is acting strange. If the gear selector is in the OD position, after a short time (1-2 miles or sometimes sooner) it'll lose all gears and just freewheel/clunk. But if the selector is in the D position all is fine. Converter is fine, locks up...

    Kwik Performance AC brackets

yep, everything is is the factory stuff. i used a generic sanden compressor...the regular sized one. Can't think of the number off the top of my head... had the hoses made at a local shop here. Cost me about $140. And thanks for the compliments!!

Questions about a DOD 5.3L swap

All DOD lifters suck. Just swap in a regular cam and ls7 lifters and call it a day. The difference in mpg is negligible at best. And these trucks aren't exactly aerodynamic so the MPG isn't what a new truck would get with DOD anyway. Throw the 5.3 in and enjoy the power and reliability.

    new need help finding parts

If you want help and advice, you have to do more than say I have a truck with a 350 and I want help on restoring it (which is what your post said before you edited it). Spend some time searching here and on the web. These trucks are 30 years old, there's not a whole lot that hasn't been done...

    Good price for LS swap?

But if you drive it that rarely, just leave whatever motor is in it, in it.

    Good price for LS swap?

That's a good deal. He's basically doing it for less than $1500. But I'd go EFI. Did the carbed ls...won't go back.

    DBW benefits?

Donor truck makes it simple. Plug it in and go. Much easier than fooling with a cable setup. Makes setting up cruise wayyyy easier as well.

Won't be dealing with you guys anymore

Placed an order for a 4l80e for my LS k10. Current trans is a 96 80e, so I placed an order for one from a 96 k2500. Well, a few days later they give me a call saying that because I was honest and actually gave the VIN for the K10 instead of a k2500, they won't warranty the trans. What kind...

    LQ9 swap motor mounts

Everything fits fine. Look at some of my old posts and I have pictures. The way the compressor is clocked is the biggest problem. THe lines come out directly at the lip of the frame. I cut my frame and it was still too close to get any other off the shelf ac parts to fit. A good AC shop could...

    LQ9 swap motor mounts

The company that made the ac line that would allow for low mount is no longer selling them :( I tried to source them else where, but no luck. I haven't seen any headers that will fit 4wd either.

    Build thread 5.3 W/6L80e in a 1986

None of those codes will keep the truck from running. FPCM is something the newer trucks have that regulates fuel pump power to control fuel pressure.

He did all the basics, not really a 'tune'. But the truck should run and drive just fine with what he did. And he's right, rear 02s will not make a difference at all in the running.

    Build thread 5.3 W/6L80e in a 1986

This is not correct. The Trans is tuned just like the engine through the obdII port, just writes to the tcm instead of the ecm. OP: get everything connected, filled, and ready to go so that you can properly diagnose things. With everything half connected/filled you're going to continue to just...

Unless the gen iv is different that gen iii, the oil cooler bolts on, and then you just get a blockoff. most engines dont have oil coolers, so blockoffs are plentiful. you have to have a trans cooler. whether its in the radiator or an auxiliary cooler, although i suggest the aux cooler.

no, you dont need an oil cooler.
