    Knocking under load/hard acceleration

Hmm, I'll give that a try tomorrow, thanks Marty!

    Knocking under load/hard acceleration

I don't know that I can re-create the sound without driving it. It won't do it in neutral.

    Knocking under load/hard acceleration

Thanks, I plan on doing that Kleedus, it's helped me in the past. GP, it does not blow black smoke at all. You can smell that it's a little rich, though. Mileage is unknown, as this engine is a donor engine that I used to replace a failed 4.3 v6. The 86 c10 I got it out of had a 4.3 from the...

    Knocking under load/hard acceleration

Thanks for the replies, To answer all of you guys: Paw paw: The oil looks clear, I'm about 2000 miles into my last oil change and it is getting a little darker. Smells a little like gas, I am running a bit rich. My oil pressure gauge is bad and fluctuates, but always stays between 30-60 psi...

    Knocking under load/hard acceleration

My engine just developed a knock coming from the engine area when I accelerate hard at the end of 1st gear and through 2nd gear, never in third that I can hear. The sound does not happen when revving in neutral, and just started yesterday. Oil seems fine/full. It almost sounds like a rod...

    Question on headliner install

Nice job! Makes it look so much better, doesn't it? Was it a pain to hold up while putting it back in? I know when I did my amc eagle, it was a PITA to hold the headliner up and instal it by myself without messing it up. I'd recommend anyone that has an old headliner to do this. It's not as...

    Trans Swap Conversion

Do you plan on beefing up the engine? If so, it may be too much for a T5. My '88 s10 with the "iron duke" 4 cyl came had a T5 world class. I liked it, never gave me any trouble, but I'd think hard about it before putting one behind a 350. And I would never power shift it.

Coolant overflow doesn't drain back to rad.

Ok, between the new cap and new hose, it is all functioning normally now. Thanks guys. I'm guessing the cap, because it was a bit rusty and the rubber appears to have deteriorated a bit.

Coolant overflow doesn't drain back to rad.

That's why I said it would either leak if it was low enough, of wouldn't matter if it was above the water line. That's the cap I got, two gaskets and a spring. I just finished replacing the reservoir hose. The old one didn't look bad at all, so I have a feeling I'll be back to the drawing...

Coolant overflow doesn't drain back to rad.

No, I see no leaks whatsoever. When I disconnected the reservoir hose from the neck of the rad and held it a few inches lower in elevation, coolant flowed through it easily. So I don't suspect a clogged line. It seems that any coolant I add to the radiator just ends up in the reservoir...

Coolant overflow doesn't drain back to rad.

The problem happened with the old stock cap. Earlier today I replaced with the same style (cap with spring and seal, twist on). I'm not yet sure if the problem is fixed but i will know soon. This is the stock style, as well as what I replaced it with. Is it what you're talking about...

Coolant overflow doesn't drain back to rad.

The last few days, my radiator will be like a quart low, and my reservoir will be full above the cold fill line. It is not draining back into the radiator for some reason. Anyone ever had this problem? I just got finished replacing the radiator cap and making sure the line from reserve to...

What have you done to your square lately??

I have been wondering about this. I have heard many square owners complain about the heaters/defrost. If it's due to a gap in the ducting in a/c equipped squares then that would explain it, because I have no a/c but amazing heat, even compared to some new vehicles.

    Alternator

I agree, I think 140 would be ideal. No more than 180. If you can find anything in that range I would go for it.

    Question on headliner install

One can should be good. I did an entire amc eagle wagon headliner with one can and it turned out great. Good luck! Maybe feed us a pic once it's done Edit: For some reason I was thinking you were doing a pickup. It may be a close call, but I believe you can do it with one can. If it's not...

How much time should I expect?

Do you have a ball joint puller or bearing packer? You can get by without the packer if you try hard enough, but it can be pretty difficult without a puller. I just had these items done along with a tie rod, and this time I had a mechanic do it as I was much too busy at the time. It wasn't...

How do you guys battle rust?

Yeah, I know not driving it at all is ideal. That's why I've been driving the (yawn) civic. I wish I had some kind of garage pit with drainage, I would power spray used oil all over the bottom of the truck. Or I'll just move to the west coast and not even have to worry about it.

disable auto door lock when started

So this truck came factory with power locks? I wouldn't think it would come wired to lock upon ignition, but I don't know for sure. If I can find my '86 chevy truck wiring diagram book then I'll look for you. '87 could be different in that regard, IDK. Hopefully someone that has pwr...

    my 91 ramcharger

I have to agree with everyone here, dodge got those things right. I don't know what I would rather have, a ram charger or blazer. Both are very sweet, and a tad cooler than the broncos, IMO.

    Wiper Arms Modification?

I wonder if the stock arms could be trimmed or modded to fold out? Maybe taking some metal off where it pivots at the base? I'll have to look at mine closer later. You could put something between the blade and the window, maybe as simple as two small blocks of wood or rubber per wiper...

How do you guys battle rust?

How do you guys battle rust? This applies especially to those in the rust belt. Now that it's winter, I'm driving the square less and the 2012 civic more. Do any of you do more than washing the salt off every now and then? I've been washing, using silicone spray around wheel wells and...

What have you done to your square lately??

No, I thought of you and looked behind all the gay bars but you were nowhere to be found! I did see a burb just like yours, except with the red pinstripe. It was for sale, might snap a pic later.

What have you done to your square lately??

Drove mine all over the place this past weekend. Even up to king of prussia and lancaster pennsylvania. Put about 150 miles on it in 2 days. Now I'm using it to move all my stuff to my new place in oxford.
