    factory-style tachometer

The clock on my 79 wasn't working when I bought my truck either. I pulled it out, filed the contact points, put some clock oil in it, applied power and tapped the housing a few times lightly with a screwdriver handle and its been running since, over 4 years now. I learned this from an older...

Does anyone know who made this cupholder?

I once ran out of gas on the highway on the way to school as a poor teenager and had a stranger stop and give me a gas can and told me to keep it. It probably wasn't you but thank you anyways.

    Anyone prefer the mini starters?

I've been using one of the cheap ones from DB Electrical in my daily driver for over 4 years now and around 30,000 miles. Installed it when I started having heat soak issues with headers. At the time I just wanted to try one out and see if it fixed my starting problem but I ended up just leaving...

IN NEED OF A FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE SINGLE PIN 6 PORT

That is the wrong 6 port valve. That one is for the 81 and up trucks. The valve he needs has a single wire on it and is used on the 75-80 trucks.

    Cruisemaster Cruise Control

I was looking thru my parts stash for something else and found this piece I forgot I had and remembered this thread. Where the speedo cable threads on is a little dinged up, but other than that it looks good. It spins freely. You can have the whole thing if you cover postage.

    Cruisemaster Cruise Control

I can't help you with individual repair parts but their is still remans out there for the assembly. Part number is Cardone 36-101 for the 2 wire and 36-102 for the 3 wire. I've been using a reman for over a year now with no problems.

    Factory cruise control wiring diagram?

Yes you press the button when you've accelerated up to speed and it locks in on that speed. If you press and hold it you'll slow down and when its released it'll lock in as a new speed. To turn the cruise off you have to tap the brake pedal. Pretty simple system.

    Fuel selector valve leak-by

Those are NOT the correct one wire 6 port valves like your truck should have. They can be made to work but will require electrical modifications. If it looks like this its NOT the right one. Your 79' should look like this.

    Finding my ratio

If you have a open rear end, jack up one tire and spin the one tire and count how many times the drive shaft spins during 2 revolutions of the tire. For a locking or posi jack up the rear end and spin either tire 1 revolution and count how many times the drive shaft spins.

    Drivers Outer Cab Corner Help

I've got a set in the garage from LMC that I haven't got around to using yet. They're made in Taiwan and marked 1.2mm which comes out to about 18 gauge. I don't know what the factory gauge was. See photos for part numbers. First two photos are the LH side and third is RH.

    Cruise Control Surging

No problem. Its actually a fairly simple system when you get into the schematics. I recently went thru the process of installing factory cruise in my 1979 from mostly junk yard parts so I've become well acquainted with the system. If you end up replacing the transducer I wouldn't recommend...

    Cruise Control Surging

Also you could with the key off, disconnect the connectors at the transducer and hook it up so only the "engage" wire is connected to the "hold" terminal. Turn the key on but DO NOT start the engine. Move the slider to the resume position and release it. You should hear the transducer make a...

    Cruise Control Surging

If it is speeding up or slowing down the orifice tube (see red arrow in picture) on the transducer can be adjusted but it sounds like you have something else going on as well. If it slows down adjust the orifice tube out, if it speeds up adjust it in. Each 1/3rd turn changes approx 1 mph. Its...

Oil Exploded All Over Engine Bay

I'd check the transmission cooler lines going into the radiator. They run along the passenger side of the engine bay on the frame and connect to the radiator above the coolant recovery tank. It may be a pin hole leak so you'd have start up the truck to find it. Make sure to add transmission...

    1980 Cruise Control

Sounds like the cruise control transducer has been bypassed then with a non cruise control single speedometer cable. If you follow the cable from the transmission its probably going straight thru the firewall to the speedometer. In your picture the top cable should go to the speedometer and the...

    installing radiator with aftermarket?

Last winter I replaced my stock 4 row radiator with a Champion 4 row radiator. The old rubber mounts didn't fit so I bought 2 of these rubber jewelers blocks, split them in half and cut them to fit the contour of the new radiator just like the 4 old rubber ones fit...
