much better than the old tires. used tires federals on the rear and khumo's on the front but they are the same tread pattern(or extremely close) and are all pretty much new.

propane will give you a boost in fuel economy but really only in a turbo application. propane is a higher octane than diesel so it will burn slower and longer causing the diesel to burn more thoroughly. therefore getting you better mpg's and increased power.
you could run it without lockup but it would be nice for highway mileage. there is a way to do it with an oil pressure switch so it locks in overdrive that is way cheaper than a controller if your ok with minor wiring. and if your ok using a toggle to turn it off for slow city driving.
