I have my 84' K20 with 700R4 at the trans shop (been there for weeks now) and the owner said my TCC valve/switch just to the left of the vac brake booster has a broken port for the vac hose. I know GM doesn't stock those anymore but it appears that RockA and Napa still do. Where however, does the the other end of this vac line connect? This is now a non smog rig with no TVS(?) to trigger the vac switch when water temp gets to 170 degrees. So where do I want to hook it up?

Whoops, just saw a very recent post asking this same question for a non smog rig. Found my answer I believe, any manifold vac source, correct?

Technically and OEM method is through a TVS (Thermal Vac Switch). So the TVS is connected to manifold vacuum, then the TCC switch connects to the TVS. The purpose of this is to keep the converter from locking up until the engine has reached operating temperature by then the trans fluid has been warmed up via Radiator tank trans cooler. Most aren't aware, the trans cooling lines aren't only for trans cooling. They're also for warming up the transmission. Though people do hook the TCC Vac Switch direct to manifold vac source all the time and it does work.

So what part of Cali are you from Lance??? I'm from the Downey, Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs, Whittier area. Born and raised all around those areas.

54 years?!?!? You don't wear an orange suit I hope. :whymewhyme:

I had an ex step bro that lived there. No, he didn't live in the prison either. :laughing1: Though I did have a neighbor that did for a few years.

Prison? Are you meaning Susanville? That is the nearest prison that I know of (2+ hrs away) and I have never set foot on the premises! I do however do a bit of fishing at Eagle Lake, just outside of Susanville.

No, to the best of my knowledge there is a Prison in Chico, on Central Ave. CMI or CIM something like that. Probably CIM, I think it's Cali Institue for Men. It's a Men's Prison and Rehab center for Rehabing Criminals. I think it's low security for people doing easy time. Unless I'm losing my mind. I'd think you'd know better than me. I've been gone from So Cali since December of 90.

I recently found a friend on FB, he said his son did some time at Chico for some trouble he got into, so I think it's still there/

Hmmm, there ia county jail in Oroville, 25 south of Chico but nothing here in Chico proper that I know of. Are you sure you're not referring to "Chino"? Maybe they have a jail there.

Normally, I don't confuse those type of things. But yep, I was thinking Chino the whole time. In OK, we have a Chickasha and a Chickasaw. People goof that up all the time.
