Starting my axle swap 1989 burb to 1986 k10

No I didn't, I just put the single-sided one on to keep the tires in line, for when I rolled it out of the garage. The one I'm gonna use is getting sanded and painted. Maybe I shoulda said "almost ready". My bad.
Question for you guys, are backing plates side specific?

Yes, backing plates are side specific. Things like your E brake cables routing thru the plate would be pointing to the rear of the truck instead of the front of the truck if you used the wrong ones.

I was referring to the front. I think I might have gotten them mixed up.

Looking just fine. Can't wait for you to take it for a drive and see the difference of 3.08's and 3.73's. Even though it's just under 3/4 turn difference you should still see a bit more pep.

Almost ready, gottta put the stabilizer on, bleed the brakes, adjust the bearings, Grease all the joints, and it should be ready for a Saturday night cruise.

Ahh, sorry to jump the gun, i was partially being sarcastic.

Well, my axle swap is complete, I took it out for a spin this morning, and all I can say is "WOW" what a ******* BIG difference! Its almost like I got an extra 100 horses under the hood. My launches are felt, got on the freeway, and my passing abilities have improved drastically. My speedometer is way off, but I can live with that till I figure out how to change the gears in the tranny. Its funny, but Its almost feels like my truck actually said "Thank you"! I would like to thank everyone who helped me out with advice and knowledge, Hotrod, Driver, and GM SQUAREBODY!

I cant wait to find a set of 35's for mine. Then down the road i want to regear to 4.88's

Pep? after todays test drive, my truck it actually has a nut sack now! Big difference! the rear Eaton locker works really good too! Makes me wanna go make a burn-out vid.

Just keep in mind, they are 10 bolts. With those big tires and the locking axle, to spin both those bigger tires on pavement, is putting a pretty good stain on that rear axle. The Eaton G80 Gov Lok, get's it's nickname, Gov-Bomb for a reason. I'd consider them light to mild duty axles. If you have OEM tire sizes you could probably get by with some horsing around on dry pavement, but with bigger tires, I don't think I'd get to aggressive very often on dry pavement. Wet pavement, gravel, dirt or mud road would be a different story and should be able to hold up to a little bit of reasonable fun.

Who knows, i might have been lucky, but my 12bolt 4.11's with the g80 would doo a pretty good burnout leaving school XD XD. Exspecially on 32x11.5-15's. And a higher first gear.
