Reverse light switch?

So I have a 78 K5, with a 4 speed manual.

465 trans I think?

So the reverse lights don't work. I also added some extra reverse lights.

Anyone know where the reverse light switch is on the trans? Should I just start from scratch and make a dash switch with a whole new circuit? Thoughts?

I checked. I found a round wiring plug hanging down from the front left of the trans. I'm assuming that's the reverse wiring.

But what does that plug into? Would the electrical wires be on the body or frame headed to the back of the rig? Or should it be hanging down from the engine bay?

It's either going to be going into the main harness behind the distributor, or like 4wd indicator wiring through a shifter boot.

Here's a 77 c30. Might even have its own firewall grommet. Looks to be green and black wires maybe? Can't tell, looks like it goes into the harness.

Update:

Found the wiring that goes to the switch, and that wiring has power.

The switch itself has no continuity between the terminals when depressed or not.


So.... Bad switch.


$20 on Amazon with free delivery tomorrow. (The local auto parts store wants $32)

Hopefully that's all that was wrong.

Reverse lights work now. Just needed the new switch and for the wiring to be plugged into it.
