Hi guys, I am new to the site i need help with my 1979 chevy k10 lock cylinder, my old one you could turn the truck on without the key in, take the key out in whatever position it was in. I didnt want that so i decided to put a new one in yesterday. Now with the new one in, it will only let me put it in if i turn the ignition quite a ways to where its in there ans will workk but you cannot pull the key out!?

Any Help would be greatly appreciated!:bawl:

To get it out you will need to pull the entire cylinder out again. Compare the new one with the old one and be sure they are the same. I am not sure if its possible to get wrong but make sure its installed in the correct orientation "key teeth down".

Thanks for replying! I checked both the only difference was a tiny black *** at the end of the cylinder (side that goes into column first) on the one that was in there it looked like it was broken off maybe but cant tell. all that black thing does tho when pushed in, it moves the key out a hair. Also the key is in the right way. i need to somehow get the gear inside to turn more so i casn set mine in the right way. im confused.
