"Got it installed" was indeed the AR23 can.
Good idea on the timing indicator. I'll have to see if I can mount it somehow that will be accessible and reliable.
Why is it I keep reading that cast iron vortec heads do not like a lot of advanced timing?
Now I know the engine doesn't knock I'll bump it up a bit and drive it some more.
