I'm not sure if this has been covered or not, but if so, my apologies. I have an 87 chevrolet R10 Silverado with tbi and want to switch to the holley sniper system. That system is already expensive, so if I have to buy 2 in tank fuel pumps, that ups the cost even more. The truck is already efi, just doesn't push the psi the sniper would need. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I went round and round with the same issue. I tried the cheaper option (in line pump) and it didn’t work for me. This electric fuel pumps push fuel, they don’t pull it so you are stuck with how fast it can syphon to the pump. You might be successful if you punch a hole in the bottom of the tank and feed the pump from the bottom, but who the hell wants to do that. Maybe because I insisted keeping the dual tanks which meant you have to put the pump after the switch valve which may slow it down more. Those inline pumps have failure issues too because you can’t keep them cool.

Not sure if you have dual tanks or not, but I ended up going with the holly 12-308. Yep expensive, but take my lessons learned. I spent the money on an inline high volume pump with all of the return lines and pressure regulator got it anll set up and then I had to start all over. The 12-308’s are expensive, but “buy once, cry once” I have a thread on here someplace with how to wire them up. Or just ask for help when you are ready.

I have been extremely happy with this set up. They are quiet, you do not need a return line and you don’t need a baffled tank.

When I retrofitted a FITech 3003, I bought the Holley in tank system. As mentioned, no return line, quiet, maintains a steady fuel flow and has the float built in. I also decided that a new EFI system was worth a new fuel tank at the same time so I spent even more. It's nice to not worry about the fueling.

It only ups the cost by the price of one pump, and if you are running chevrolet vortec pumps EP381 on your factory 87 tanks on 87 senders. The price may actually be less depending on what inline pump you were thinking of.
