    AC Troubleshooting 1976 GMC C15

I'll give that a shot. I'll need to get a new condenser in order to allow that though. Thanks for your help!

    AC Troubleshooting 1976 GMC C15

It's in the evaporator core. New valve too. I think I may have figured it out finally! There is about a 4in gap between condenser and radiator. No electric fan. I think that is causing it to not dissipate heat correctly. When moving and driving, it cools great. Stopped it gets hot and...

    AC Troubleshooting 1976 GMC C15

Update. I found out I had the discharge and liquid lines flipped on the condenser. Dumb mistake but you live and learn. I now have #8 discharge going to top of condenser. #6 liquid line going to evap core. And #10 suction line to compressor. Problem is, after putting 24oz of r134a in, it still...

New to the square body scene

Welcome from Texas! As others have said, rebuild your current carb. If it's original and a Quadrajet, they aren't that difficult to rebuild. I got a kit from quadrajet power that included everything and they have videos on how to rebuild so you can follow on step by step easily. I'm also a...

    tailgate/cab band trim repair

I know the tailgate panel is anodized so polishing won't work unless you remove the anodization. I used a cheap spray in oven cleaner, let it sit for a minute, then brushed it with steel wool. I clear coated afterwards and mine is holding up fine. No clue on removing dents. I'm not a body man...

What have you done to your square lately??

WTB '83/84 GMC dual headlight grille

If I hadn't just got everything switched to GMC on my truck finally, I would sell you the one I just picked up.

What have you done to your square lately??

Do the magnaflow straight through mufflers count as glasspacks? If so, I've had them on my truck for a decade and love them. The sound matches the era of these trucks so well.

What have you done to your square lately??

It's a new switch. Is there a way to test it? When filling it up, it does cycle until it has more freon. Then it freezes up at the expansion valve but remains cool (not remotely cold) on the drier. Pressures also tend to be high in high side relative to where it should be compared to low side

What have you done to your square lately??

Finished installing fender badges and dash badge. Officially showing GMC rep now! Also bonus pic of engine. Still struggling with AC freon not flowing through orifice tube properly and freezing up. May just give up and take it to a shop at some point. Will be the first time this truck sees a...

Has anyone used an Edelbrock Rochester Quadrajet carburetor?

I've been using an edlebrock quadrajet 1901 for nearly a decade. Runs fantastic. Like all quadrajets, you need to fine tune a little bit for your application but once you have it set up, you are golden.

What have you done to your square lately??

That's cool! Whenever I swap to the 70s front end, guess this could help fund it. I'll post a pick this afternoon of it on the truck. Got it mounted yesterday but it's in the garage so I couldn't get a good picture

What have you done to your square lately??

What year is it exactly? '84? I'm just curious since I've got a 76 with an 80s front clip. Figured this would hold me over until I do a front end swap in the future.

1970s Rally wheel center cap insert decal

I had no clue the 77's had brown decals. 77 parts seem to always be special. I do have a set of black oem ones I'll be selling here soon. Swapping mine to GMC as I finally got the parts to do so

What have you done to your square lately??

Been working on converting my GMC to actually have GMC badging. Picked up a grille and clean tailgate panel for $130 from a swap meet and restored the grille. Workong on restoring the tailgate panel right now too but no pictures of it

    Muffler recommendations

I've been running dual magnaflow 10416 mufflers behind my 454 for years and I'm happy with them. Small rumble at idle and cruising around town. Minimal drone, loud when you stand on it.

    1999 454 carb swap. best street carb, 600? 650? 750? CFM

People might disagree but a good quadrajet is hard to beat. Flows 750-800 cfm, great street manners, plentiful, etc.. Been running one on my 454 for 10 years (intake, headers, exhaust) and it's been fantastic. Starts below freezing, hot, never bogs, great power and throttle response. It's got...

    AC Troubleshooting 1976 GMC C15

Thanks for your insight Hunter! Hoses are all routed correctly to the best of my knowledge. It's a brand new condenser off LMC so I believe it should be the newer style. I let it sit for a day and next day it blew COLDA for about 5 minutes then pressures got high again Correct. Compressor...

    AC Troubleshooting 1976 GMC C15

Well, I went ahead amd evacuated the system and pulled a vacuum. Going to flush the system and refill with oil again and freon at a later date. Maybe change the evap core as well even though it doesn't leak.
