Questions about turning a Burb into a 4 door pickup

I’d keep the barn doors, that way you’re not trying to load over a tailgate. I’m eventually going to make my tailgate a side swing for that reason. And if you’re already cutting and shutting then just add it to the list.

What have you done to your square lately??

Thanks, but they were on there already, I’m pretty sure they’re relatively new because we had to take the plastic off them when we converted to power steering. I’m going to change the suspension in the back end eventually so might actually go some red boys all round. That’ll pop more with the...

    New wiring harness difficulty

Also, I need to get an auto-electrician to look over mine from front to back, due to the motor and trans being out of an npr there are things disconnected all over the place that I’m not certain are meant to be. Thankfully it runs but it would be nice if it was a bit cleaner.

    New wiring harness difficulty

I truly wish you luck in your endeavours. Thankfully this site is full of people that know heaps and are actually happy to share. Also, YouTube. It’s pretty handy for most things these days. My horn is currently not working but that’s only because I had to delete it when I changed steering...

Might remove the birds nest behind the grill next.

What have you done to your square lately??

Me and a mate swapped out my trans Mount to something a little sturdier. Don’t mind the self lubricating underside, it’s sweating power and anti-seizing the hardware keeping it together.

    Diagnosing white smoke on startup

I had a massive issue with moisture getting in my fuel due to an old seal on the fuel sender. It was white smoke city on every start. I have a diesel in it so it was a nightmare, it would stall out once or twice until the lines cleared but I don’t think you’d get the stalling issue on a standard...

    Bed Support "Cross Sill" Options

That’s exactly what I’m doing Grit. I managed to find a scale pic and the measurements that came through from Dan matched so they’ll do. Sills are getting bent up anyways so it will have to. Basically I’m going to build it off the truck, get it all to the point where it can bolt straight on and...

    Bed Support "Cross Sill" Options

I’ll reiterate that I’m in Australia and freight on the rest of the panels was already pretty excessive but the freight on a floor by itself was quoted at 5k. For that money I can basically finish everything I want to do to it and then buy enough beer to celebrate with everyone that’s...

    Bed Support "Cross Sill" Options

The current set up is a flat tray and that’s basically square tube, rectangle hollow and steel plate but I’m going back to a stock style fleetside bed. I’ve got the front, side panels and tailgate and I’ll make a hardwood wood floor to fit. Definitely going to do it properly though which is why...

    Bed Support "Cross Sill" Options

Ah ok. So they’re basically just a structural support to stop the middle from bowing in or twisting. I really appreciate the help with this Dan, and I’m sure the next person that runs into this will as well.

How should i build my engine, 1979 chevy k10

That’s exactly why I bought mine. It’s got a bomb proof diesel engine that will out live me. I had zero desire to have to play mechanic before work or in the rain. Also, @Justin Willey I’d probably start with cleaning everything up just to see what you’ve actually got condition wise then start...

    Bed Support "Cross Sill" Options

Happy to use toothpicks and spit if it gets the job done. I’m just trying to get as close as I can so I don’t have to spend days trying to get the body lines right. Or extra days.

    Bed Support "Cross Sill" Options

Never too late. Even if I didn’t need them, which I do, someone would have eventually. I was pretty much at that myself but nice to confirm. So the one’s between the wheel arches, are they around 1.5?

    Bed Support "Cross Sill" Options

NPD was a no go. I really just need a height. Buying anything will cost more in shipping than it’s worth really. I’ll either get some bent up or if they’re pretty close to a standard top hat/purling size I’ll use that and then shim or shave as needed. I’ve pretty much got it figured out though...

What have you done to your square lately??

honestly, it could be out of a tractor for all I know, pretty sure the handbrake is. They guys that did it were old school big rig guys. It looks like they cleared the shed of scrap steel and spare parts for the swap.

What have you done to your square lately??

1975 c20. Built in the Holden factory in Victoria. Colour is Lina Mint which was factory as well. New carpets in Just before I got it. It’s super rust free and the engine is solid. Just seals needed doing from sitting so long. I’ve just put in power steering and we’re going to redo the trans...

Isuzu 4bd1t. Only 4 cylinders but they’re big ones. Came out of an NPR Cabover. It’s got the trans out of the same truck , 5 speed with overdrive.

I’ll take some photos for you. Yeah, my neighbour had one of the Suburbans. I didn’t even know they did them until I saw his. Na, definitely not weird, they had such a great style. And thankfully you guys have such a great aftermarket and reproduction selection that it makes owning one...

    Bed Support "Cross Sill" Options

Thanks for the tip Rusty. Unfortunately they only go back to 1995 though so no love. But with the scale drawing I found I should be pretty close. A guy on another forum got back to me about it as well and he’s going to measure his on the weekend. I’ll make it work somehow, the rest of the thing...

    Bed Support "Cross Sill" Options

Thanks for that Bruce. I found those myself and came up with a rough measurement. I’m looking at roughly 2.9 inches for the main cross sills and I’ll work out the Center ones from the chassis height difference. I’m surprised that nowhere has the actual specs for them though.
