How much weight will a 1/2 ton really handle?
I've done my fair share of overloading trucks and trailers. The thing that scares me the most is trucks with semi float axles. I saw a bad wreck 2 miles from my house about 15 years ago, guy in an old square body way overloaded with 8'+ large logs stacked as high as the cab coming down a hill...- K588

Opinions on gear ratio?
I have a 90 V1500 suburban with 33" tires and 4.10's, 700R4 , 350 . I bought it that way from the PO, it runs great, better than any of these trucks I've driven with 3.08 or 3.73 gears in them. If I was the one swapping the gears I wouldn't hesitate for a second to put a least 4.56 in it with...- K588

New here
Had to save the Toyota, Dad bought it new went from him,to me,to my brother,back to him. Transmission needed rebuilding at 200k he was going to get rid of it and my wife said she wanted it. Had it rebuilt fixed a bunch of other crap and found out the engine was shot. Its inline for a new engine...- K588

New here. Been working on these trucks for 20+ years. Currently have an '89 V3500 crew cab, '90 GMC V1500 Suburban and an '88 K5 Blazer. Also have a '79 CJ5, '81 CJ8, '90 YJ and a '94 Toyota pickup I mess with. Currently in the middle of an engine replacement on the '90 Suburban.- K588
