    Engine lift points

Those are perfectly fine to lift an engine, that's all I've used. You'll be okay remove or stab the engine with those and a chain. I have heard good things using the intake plates, just can't bring myself to use one

@NickTransmissions Holy Moly! Just watched the video you provided and the assembly video. I don't have the tools or the spot to do this work. Sucks, because I would like do it myself for the experience. If I can't find a reputable place in town I will be reaching out to see if you'd be...

    TH400 Information Thread

Thank you for your speedy reply. That's what I thought you would say. Is it okay to drive it like this until I get the parts to rebuild it? If I opt to try the rebuild myself, do I have to clean the entire case, or can I just make sure the internals are cleaned? Granted, I would scrub and...

    TH400 Information Thread

What about softer shifts? When I got the truck in 2012 it slammed into reverse, but not so much into drive, and it shifted softly and quickly. So I replaced the modulator valve, and have done a few drain and fills, one was because I inadvertently got the wrong filter, and that was maybe 2015...

I have been meaning to build some cribs/cribbing. Definitely safer as you're not relying on jack stands.

Transmission grinds going into L or R

If adjusting the clutch doesn't help, replace the clutch. Unsynchronized gears always grind a little bit. But if they grind and you can't get them into gear, the clutch isn't disengaging enough for the input shaft to slow down. If you replace the clutch, get the complete clutch kit that comes...

    81 turn signal lens

It's a tight fit. You may have to compare the gusseting of the plastic housing on the originals to the replacements. On one of mine I had to trim some of the gusseting off the new one because it wouldn't go in the opening. They are a pain to get in there, but once you find the angle of attack...

    SFV mechanic rec's

I am not any help, I work on my own because I don't trust anyone to do the work, and I go the extra mile. @BRetty lives in that area and he has a truck in a shop for a simple engine swap and it's been weeks or months since he dropped it off for a one to two day tops job.

I agree. There are tons of things we can add or change to make these old vehicles run way cleaner, but the powers that be say no because they didn't come from the factory like that. I forget which member, but I think he was in Colorado, and the sniffer test showed phenomenal numbers for the...
