The whole drop issue is too much! All the options! Arrrrgghhhhh!

I sure like that price. I'm still searching for the best option myself....

Anyone recognize this lift? What is it?

Hey all - can I mount a set of 33x12.50R15 on a set or OEM 8" rally wheels? That's what I'd prefer to do....

The whole drop issue is too much! All the options! Arrrrgghhhhh!

Any thoughts on the belltech stuff? Eibach? I can always cut a coil myself, and to yank a single leaf from the rear doesn't cost much - at least to get an idea of what she'll look like.

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

I'm thinking that it may be a "14010207" That third digit it super hard to discern - but I believe that it could be a "0". The fourth digit may really be a "10" instead of a "0"; it's a bit thick for just a single digit.

What do you think that is? "1480207"? The third and fourth digits are super hard to discern, even for me! And my face was right on them!

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

Thanks HotRod - I was hoping it wouldn't need too much. On another note....I was about to contort myself into the angriest position possible to chase down the following pics of the existing engine's casting numbers. Can anyone confirm that is in fact NOT the original '77 small block that would...

The whole drop issue is too much! All the options! Arrrrgghhhhh!

Correct me if I'm wrong....but it's looking like a 2/4 drop is super cheap and easy. A pair of front springs, some hangers for the rears. Prob a pretty quick install as well, with no grinding of control arms, no rearranging pinion angles, etc. I may just start with that to put something...

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

Now that's what I like hearing! Hahaha! Swapping power plants just to shut someone up! Haha. Now those were the days..... I've got a replacement small block sitting on a stand; I was saving it for something special - but hey....what's more special than a square body?! It's a bone-stock...

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

It may just be that this one has to go live somewhere else. I have too many irons in the fire, and to add an engine swap may be the straw for this ol' girl......and I'm embarrassed to even utter such words in a place as great as this.

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

I have yet to chase down those casting numbers; they're not super easy to get to on this truck, and knowing that it's got to come out regardless has dampened my motivation for the immediate time being! Hey - how much would you allow yourself to remove and replace this engine? A weekend? I...

The whole drop issue is too much! All the options! Arrrrgghhhhh!

The entire concept of how much and by what means to drop is almost overwhelming to me...help me make heads or tails of all of this mess! I'm getting ready to make room for a '77 C10 that will be our shop truck/ol' dog - but in order to accept that role, she's gotta be COOL! Thus - the drop...

OK, these are on the front right (passenger) side of the block, just below the head.

Gosh, I was told it was a 350ci, but the casting numbers indicate that it may also be a 307ci.

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

OK, boys.....an update: I was able to get the balancer off using the cheapest-piece-of-crap-made-in-China puller I've ever touched in my life. Good news - I got the balancer off! Bad news - pretty sure I mangled the puller beyond any future use. So - it's off! Good news - the balancer...

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

That is AWESOME. Score for you guys! Haha! I'll get this balancer off and try to determine what's really going on in there. Can't really do much other than speculate at this point. Perhaps this weekend I'll have enough time to steal away and get it pulled.

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

Well, I'm not running it. At all. Been years since she was fired. This is just how she came to me: missing crank pulley and pulley bolts, missing balancer bolt and washer, and sloppy balancer. Looks like a new balancer at the local parts shop is about $50, and another $12 for the bolt. I'll...

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

Can I just swing by the boneyard and grab a crank pulley, balancer bolt, and a used balancer? Is that a quick "grab and go" setup? On another note, what if it broke on the inside of one of the main bearing journals? Wouldn't that hold the broken crank in place?

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

I'm not driving it, so everyone is safe - for now! Haha I'll see if I can get it off.... Then, if the nose of the crankshaft moves - what next? We'll know she needs major surgery, correct? If it's not loose, then maybe the balancer was just improperly installed? Maybe? Would I ever get that lucky?

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

I've not started it up at all, and it's been years since she's been fired up. I can't tell if it has "spun" or not. It lifts up/down and in/out just enough to make a good "clunking" sound....maybe 1/16" of movement, give or take, in all directions. Might be a shade more than that. Are all...

Anyone recognize this lift? What is it?

I wanna circle back to this idea..... So the engine will bolt right up, correct? If I stick with my existing tranny? The front/back bumpers will mount right up, which I need. The doors/fenders will match - which I can use. And perhaps the bench seat, if I should go back to that (as...

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

Can't tell much from the pics, other than a peek into the bolt hole in the center of the balancer. Anything obvious that you can see?

Loose/broken harmonic balancer - and more

So the '77 K10 I've been working on has a super loose, clunky harmonic balancer. PO said he heard a squealing noise, so he yanked the belts/lower pulley, noticed it was crazy loose - and parked it right there, assuming the worst. Worst being.....broken crankshaft? Ruined key slot...

Anyone recognize this lift? What is it?

What creates the spring lift then? The number of leaves? I sorta figured it might be extra length causing the springs to "buckle up" a bit more, creating additional lift.
