    Upper ball joint adjustment?

If you have everything a part ,you should be holding the whole knuckle in your hand . buy or rent a ball joint press and press the old one's out and the new one's in the knuckle . Clean the the threads on the housing where the ball stud adjusting sleeve go'es and put the new one in a bit until...

    Need to extend?

Looks like a old 4" lift to me , cant see any block's , stock steering arm as well. I think if you are going with 35's anyway I would go with a new 6" setup.I would go through the whole truck anyway

    383 build plans

Be careful , crate motor's are mass produced and have very little quality control standards , you can do much better going with a bad ass machine shop. That being said , most gm crate motor's do not put out what they say and a dyno sheet is just a piece of paper. I have seen the same motor...

    Need to extend?

Hard to tell with out pic's or at least your tire size , best fit go's like this; 33's , 4" lift 35's , 6" lift 38's , 8" lift and so on. Sounds like you need to go through your suspension and build it to the tire size you want to run. I run o rate blocks in the front but they are...

    Exhaust Opinion

I have always been a flowmaster fan since they dont make blue streak glasspacks anymore , (different sound than today's packs). I went with a set of moroso spiral flows with 2 1/2 pipe with header's on my blazer , and it sounds bad ass (not quiet though). Deeper than flows and not as rappy but...

what ya'll think about my engine set-up

IMO , I would re think your combo. Really it depends on what you want out of your truck , dd , weekend drags , or just smoke the tire's as far as you can see. To start with the hot cam is mainly for fuel injected motor's , mild idle , wide torque curve , etc...A cam with tighter lobe sep. will...

    Carb Bog

Hang on a minute!!!!!!! You need to hook your gauge to full manifold vacuum not timed vacuum , (for your dist.) and the port you are using for your dist. should not have vacuum at idle , (or at least very little to none). then as you adjust the idle mixture screws you may have your rpm come up ...

    Suspected trans issue?

I dont know much about the 700r4 , (I am not a fan) but all the turbo 350's and 400's I have beat up and saved have never lasted to long after a good fluid starvation , just saying. You for sure put the beat down on your clutches and tq. , rebuild it!!!!!! :boxing::boxing::boxing:

    Carb Bog

A lot of carb problems are misdiagnosed ignition issue's , are you sure your vacuum adv. is working properly , as well as having your base timing at the right setting ? Lopey cams sometimes cause the metering rods in an eddie not to seat properly and you have to get a calibration kit to get...

Anyone used the old ash tray for something (else) that's interesting?

This was back in the day , but I bought a new washer tank , pump and lines from a parts store , ( I cant remember which one) with a switch for the pump and a ball valve from a camper place. Made a mount in the ashtray for the ball valve with a piece of hose that you could pull out , put the...

    Thumpr cams

I have had two smallblocks at 9.5 to 1 with the 268h cams in them back in the day and they ran really well , but almost sounded stock to me. I think still with the right combo , ( if you have to have that drag car idle) the thumper could still make some good number's on the dyno. Not saying...

Help Want A 4" Suspension Lift With All New Springs

The tuff country lift kit with blocks is still 500.00 , so I am not sure you could get everything plus rear springs for your price range. I am not positve but I think in your year you could have either 52" springs in the rear or 56" ones , The 56" springs are more money. You may want to just...

    Carb Bog

If you want to here are some things to check on your eddie; Float level idle circuit , set to highest vacum reading choke , make sure after it's warmed up the choke plate is fully open fuel pressure , eddie's dont like any more than 5 pounds pressure accelerator pump arm , most eddie's...

Choosing a new carb and intake

Thats quite a bit of cam for a stock low compression 400 , you may loose some bottom end with your selection. 35's , stock gear's , automatic trans , (if that what's you have) will problably be soft on the bottom end but may run out well. Just my 2 cent's

    Thumpr cams

I have never ran one but they have their place in the performance world. First off they are not going to make power in a 8.5 to 1 motor , (to much cam imo) , but if you want the drag cam sound in a 9.5 to 1 motor I don't see why they would not work well. If you take a 9.5 to 1 motor and...

    Ball Joint Replacement First Time!

You will need to get a pickle fork and a hammer then give the old ball joints the beat down. Then the whole knuckle will come off , then you press the old out and new in.

    Gutless Wonder

Bummer more crate motor blues , (seen a lot of this). Mismatched part's , mass produced , no quality control , etc..... Sorry to say fallguy but you may be trying to get power out of this thing and it may never happen. If you want to keep your set up and try to make it run you need to start with...
