    That looks like a drop spindle to me and you are all over that bump stop. Look at how it has busted up the rubber from banging on it. No doubt the age of the rubber is what has caused it to break up but you have been hitting the bump stop for sure. Your front springs must be super short.

    I am sure someone has already said so but this is probably your accelerator pump. If your ignition is all right like your spark advance and stuff I am betting that is the only thing it could be.     Take it back apart and put the bolt through the other way. With the shock bottom in there preferably and take it back apart when it needs shocks again. Mine was close but I made it work. Best pic I have of it but you can see I had just enough room.
