    Diesel won’t start

What year is the CUCV? Flex rings were supplanted around 1985.

    Diesel won’t start

Maybe. 1982 may still have a "flex ring" which causes those symptoms when it fails by plugging up the pump's internal works. If you take the top cover off the pump and you see little black plastic crumbs. Those would be the remnants of the flex ring. If it's not that obvious you can try the...

HOW TO INSTALL A TACH METER IN A 1986 K10 CHEVY TRUCK WITH 6,2 LT ENGINE

It's usually an AC tap from one of the phases before the "triode." You'd be best off consulting and alternator rebuilder to see if they can add a terminal for you.

HOW TO INSTALL A TACH METER IN A 1986 K10 CHEVY TRUCK WITH 6,2 LT ENGINE

Those pumps don't have any provision on the injection pump. Your easiest option is an alternator driven tachometer that uses an AC tap on the alternator. GM used a signal generator on the vacuum pump/oil pump drive on GMT400s, but no idea how the tach read that signal. If I ever get around to...

    The last pre-emmisions diesel

I'm just going to point out that Diesel emissions have been going on for a while and if you have an electronic injection pump it's an "emissions" diesel. It actually pre-dates that too, but that's where we started spiraling info the abyss.

Brass Synchro Ring in Transfer Case

Glad I could help. One thing to watch is the planetary carrier. They develop cracks at the end of the welds. It's the major weak point in a 208. Good luck with the build.

Brass Synchro Ring in Transfer Case

I don't think there's a difference, but maybe they get eliminated in rebuilds or hot rodding with manual hubs. I'm fairly certain I have the factory manual but it's been years since I did my rebuilds. I'll try to remember to look tomorrow at work.

Anyone know what these 2 wires are?

My question is, does the truck have the original engine and transmission? Wires may be for something that no longer exists.

    Little tips and tricks

Stretch an O-ring around your universals. It's like Vi-agra for them. **** I can't believe this forum censors the name of a pharmaceutical.

What new tools have you got lately?

I'd kill for a Tech II. We used to die to get our hands on one to time a 6.5L. Especially after the dealer told our customer the injection pump would "time itself." The worst part was that the dealer would F the customer for hundreds of dollars in diagnostic fees and never fix the truck. Then I...

I call BS on wire size!

Wire size in a DC circuit has to do with circuit length. So the short bit of 18ga is probably enough to make it from the connection thru the pump and to the ground (which I @$$ume is the tank itself) without overloading that portion if the circuit.

Look in the manual. What does GM recommend?

    What is this switch called?

The kickdown switch for a 400 is on the throttle. Mine has a second switch on the brake pedal, but it looks different than yours. I still think mine has to do with the cruise, but I'm not going to chase it right now. Yours probably is for the converter as these people have stated.

    What is this switch called?

I always thought the upper one was the cruise disengage. I'll look in the a.m., but I'm pretty sure my pickup has one and it has a THM400.

    6.2 mechanical injection pump

Seems a little over the top. Even the 4 plunger 310HP marine injection pump still had the same 3/16 inlet fitting. But keeping it well fed is certainly a good idea anyway.

corvette side pipes on 87 step side

If they're rusting I wouldn't even attempt chroming. Clean them off as best you can and load them up with barbecue paint. Expect them to rust again. I don't think powdercoat will tolerate that kind of heat either. Try it with paint, see how it works out and if you really love it save your money...

    6.2 mechanical injection pump

Okay, you've waited long enough. The fitting on the pump is a 7/16"-24 thread inverted flare. The tubing is probably 3/16" I.D. Sorry about that. It completely slipped my mind.

Grey goes with red too. I guess a lot of people find it too bland, but I think it's a good combination. You don't want to go too light either, because dirt, so grey is a workable compromise.

Is the decking fiberglass or composite? Unfortunately a lot of builders will just carpet over bare plywood. If you're lucky they'll paint it with resin. For the finish I would try compounding and polishing. If the oxidation is really deep you may have to wet sand. I would probably avoid black...
