Until you try to refill it...

Brake Booster or Master Cylinder ISSUE?

Bad booster will make it feel like you're trying to crush a garbage can with your foot. If the pedal sinks easily it's a hydraulic problem. I'd start by bleeding more. If you just did work and now have a problem I'd be looking at the work first. What about the slack adjustment?

Any squarebody van guys? Got a odd question.

Weld the piece you cut off to the other side. Basically shift the factory pad over. Maybe? I do agree that some kind of pad is necessary. Wet, bare metal is as slippery as ice.

What have you done to your square lately??

The TDI came with a locking gas cap, but no key. I kept the big Channelocks in the car for almost a year before I finally got a new gas cap.

Any squarebody van guys? Got a odd question.

Two-footed driving is done often in racing. I mean, you've got two feet and there's two pedals.... It's even more entertaining with a three pedal vehicle. But we shift with one hand and steer with another, so multitasking isn't anything new. Left-foot braking feels awkward at first, but it's...

Any squarebody van guys? Got a odd question.

We should start a club. I have the same problem with the Corvette. FWIW, brake pedal arms are not ordinary mild steel. I'm not sure if they're hardened or just high strength steel, but I'd be wary of welding, heating and bending. When you speak of moving the pedal down, are you saying...

You seemed to be having a bad time and I felt sorry for you. I'm glad your truck is getting closer to roadworthy tho.

Help with diesel tractor engine miss

Hey, if it's not too late, or beyond your cinematography equipment maybe you could make a short video of what irregular exhaust beat looks and sounds like? It could be part of a video diagnostic series I'm compiling and pretending to be able to make soon. Naturally that only applies if this...

They don't always have them but it's a common leak point.

Help with diesel tractor engine miss

Never mind. Process of elimination, it's a 3230190. Here's the relevant service bulletin. The pump is probably going to have to go back to your rebuilder. Hopefully they have the tool.

Do you know the horsepower offhand? I may be able to look it up by application instead of chasing it thru the factory. Disregard. See below.

Help with diesel tractor engine miss

Okay. I'll chase it tomorrow. Maybe they didn't cause the issue, but a piece of masking tape over the pump tag will preserve it reasonably well, and make the job look a little more professional. We always put new tags on rebuilds, but if you don't have access or the machine to stamp them, at...

Help with diesel tractor engine miss

0190 may be the tail end of the part number. They don't always have a letter in the middle, but you're still a few digits short. It's possible the first part of the number was printed on the tag and the geniuses blasted it off. 23905PY is definitely the serial number. If you can't see the rest...

Help with diesel tractor engine miss

That's not the part number, it's the calibration code. That tells me max fuel delivery, full load RPM, governor spring position and max RPM setting but it doesn't tell me what pump it is. The part number should be at the top of the tag and will have a pattern like 3323F270.

Help with diesel tractor engine miss

I'm @$$uming it's a Delphi/Lucas injection pump. Right now, Delphi has a national backorder on transfer pump blades, so either different part numbers are being substituted, or aftermarket parts are being used. But it's probably not the transfer pump vane material that's at issue. it may be the...

Help with diesel tractor engine miss

Crack the injector lines one at a time and see if it's an actual miss. There are symptoms called irregular exhaust beat that just sound like a miss, but aren't an actual misfire. Also there's a synchronizing thing with the transfer pump rotors on three cylinder pumps that can cause issues. As...

    Overdrive not working

Unless it's been fooled with there is definitely vacuum involved with diesels. They have a vacuum pump on the engine and there is usually a vacuum and/or electric throttle position sensor on the injection pump. I don't know if that has anything to do with the lockup issue. It's been a long time...

Has anybody removed ethanol from their gas ?

My understanding is that the ethanol acts as an octane booster, so taking it out leaves you with low octane gas. And the only way I can think of getting it out safely is to wash it out with water. Then of course, you have to worry about water in the gas... Check pure-gas.org to see if there's...

    1985 EZ-GO Marathon

They used to use pumps similar to that on small outboards. It's been a long time since I fiddled with one, but my recollection is that they used crankcase pressure (or vacuum) to drive the diaphragm one way, and a light spring to do the actual pumping stroke. Much like a mechanical fuel pump...

Newb Alert: What is this diesel filter on firewall?

Makes sense. '82 was an oddball year and a lot of things changed. I think it was also the only year to have tank drains.

    1985 EZ-GO Marathon

Is it possible you've got the wrong pump and it's supplying too much pressure for the float to control? What you're describing really sounds like a flooding/mixture problem, not an inherent engine problem. I'd put a gauge on it and see how much fuel pressure there is. It really shouldn't need...

    Right rear wheel locking up

Was the parking brake on? Mine has a sticky cable that will make one side hang up. I can free it by wiggling the cable, but I'm just lucky for now. I really need to replace them.
