    '88 TBI 350 - multiple personalities

The only trans item thats ecm controlled is the torque converter clutch solenoid. the shift points are the Govs. job. 4th should come in a little before 40. I would pull the gov out and clean it. its behind the large bearing cap on the drvers side rear of the trans. After the cap is off, it...

    Road trip

That seems to be a popular speed to RPM match up with most modern vehicles. That's exactly the rpms vs speeds my Magnum turns.

Wohoo! Seals will be a bit tough for a Van. Maybe compare the windo openings with a square P/U?

tbi issues, on my 88 gmt400

MAP volts perfect. At normal op tem, go ahead and decrease the Throttle blade angle slowly....about 1/4 turn, and see if the IAC counts start to climb. see if you can get it around 30, and then reset the TPS. I have seen Factory non adjustable TPS at .70v just as an fyi. I wonder if your...

    '88 TBI 350 - multiple personalities

Brendo, Vac leaks can also appear under the intake. To check, plug the pcv line to the air cleaner, take out the pcv valve, plug the valve cover, and plug the pcv line with a bolt or dowel. Remove the dipstick, and using a propane torch(with the burner tip removed, and a piece of 3/8 fuel line...

    '88 TBI 350 - multiple personalities

hmmm. only cold. I would say vac leak, that is sealing up when things warm up and start to expand. Get a wrench and give everything a little snug from the intake manifold on up.. Then maybe do the Idle re learn proceedures. I have seen cold idles at 1100 rpm normally. Also while its col, give...

I dunno about a tach, but just do the setting on that TV cable the prescribed way, and leave it alone. I get shivers down me back, just thinking about the results of a mis adjusted cable!

305 carb to 5.7 tbi need help

There are a few programmers around that you can send your chip to, i will get you their info later today. The exhaust manifolds will bolt up. Only 1 o2 sensor, and it goes in the drivers side, you can have an o2 bung welded into the down pipe, but as close as possible to the manifold. Clutch...

305 carb to 5.7 tbi need help

Ok. EGR is totally confined to the intake manifold. the exhaust manifolds you were looking at probably had air tubes. The PROM and Calpack(skinny chip) to 5.7. Auto can be used, manual calibrations can be programmed into any chip by a programmer for a few bucks. Th issue with the flywheel cant...

    which head woul dbe better?

The big issue wit the TBI heads is really the limited cfm(430 i think) of the SBC TB Unit. With TPI, I was buzzing the TBI heads beyond 5200 with no issues. The TBI truck heads can benifit from porting work, like any head, but Bumping the exhaust valve to 1.7 wakes these engines up pretty good...

    1988 cclb r20 pulling power?

That engine was factory rated at 210hp, and 300lbft. With a final in the trans at 1:1, and 3.73 rear, you should have no problem towing the other vehicle. The thing with towing between 1/2 and 3/4 tone trucks is mostley a breaking issue. Lighter duty auto transmissions and springs on the 1/2...

Call Walker back and tell the they are full of it. They drop ship for both Summit and Jegs. Most Dyno max stuff comes up as in stock, and the walker stuff has an expected ship date. So, they DO drop ship, and they DO deal with online retailers. If not, Call Maremont or APC....screw Walker if...

3" single system, in/ out. We usually reference the Walker diagrams. Pipe size is usually individual preference here. We try not to suggest true duals any Bigger than 2.5(2.25 personally for me) 3" max for single. I have personally tried dual 2" on my burb before I had to smog it, and the low...

speaking from experience, and knowing you like quiet like me, the big block 70 series is the only Flowmaster for us. otherwise, there is the 30" long Magnaflow that is as mellow as the walker replacement that was on your 89. Drone is a big issue in SUVs, not as much in pickups, where you have...
