    Square body on new chassis?

Sounds interesting. Post pics and get your post count up that way as well.

    12 bolt front axle

Looks like a Dana 60 with fulltime 4wd hub slugs installed. Re-count the cover bolts though, should be irregular pattern 10. Could also be a D44 but if it just says "GM12 in the casting with a round 10 bolt cover it's a corporate 10 bolt 3/4 ton.

10 Bolt Junkyard rear axle with chipped tooth. Go or No Go?

White lithium is what a lot of people use instead of buying the paint

10 Bolt Junkyard rear axle with chipped tooth. Go or No Go?

I would want to know what caused the chip. Look around and see if anything came loose and got chewed up in it. If you baby it, it might last a little while but I wouldn't expect much more than 15-20k out of it.

    Piston identification question..

I thought stock 305 pistons were about 10cc dish with no valve reliefs? Guess it depends on the year break/smog requirements of the era. Probably learn more about it by running the numbers off the block.

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

Yep, hillbilly fab. Looks like it works though but I would imagine it is adding at least 1/4" to the distance between the trans and t-case sleeve, and likely required a little longer bolts.

    Edelbrock float height

Your last pic is float drop. It needs to be set at 1" so that is definitely wrong. There is a tab at the back of the float where it attaches to the carb that needs to be bent to set float drop. And can someone get honky dick to shut the fuck up about every edelbrock carb post he sees? It's not...

What's the best gen 454 block to build?

Yeah I wont be buying it. Our taxes are all screwed up this year, not hardly getting anything back. Threw a wrench into a lot of plans.

Would this be a good one? https://charlestonwv.craigslist.org/pts/d/454-engine-out-of-99-chevy/6480623764.html Been listed a long time.

Can't find new rear hubs for '74

You need a new mechanic. Sometimes a new set of eyes and experiences will spot something overlooked. There really shouldn't be this much trouble with this job.

    Understanding edelbrock tuning

The owner's manual has a lot to offer as far as tuning goes. If your engine is mostly stock or has mild upgrades the stock settings are best. The biggest issue I've had is dirt getting in the idle air circuit, making it run really badly, making you increase idle speed to keep it running and...

Can't find new rear hubs for '74

I had to heat & beat the drums off my 14b ff, and I mean I beat the shit out of them. They were rusted on tighter than dick's hatband. The drums were full of mud and rust, and had been for who knows how many moons. I fully expected them to shatter from the beating and prying they took. Then I...

86 GMC K1500 Crate 350-Adding HP without Removing Engine

I wouldn't go with stock Vortec heads, your cam lift would be pretty limited. Summit has good reviews on their branded Vortecs and can handle up to .520" lift. With the combination of heads, cam, headers, intake, carb and a nice air filter you'll be surprised how much power you can get out of one.

    79 Trans am

Hey bubba, you need to watch some more episodes of Roadkill. It will inspire the shit outta you to run what ya brung, and fix up what ya can later. As long as the brakes are good, the trans pulls and the rear end aint falling apart, and get something running and put in it for now. Then get it...

    Transfer case trouble or transmission

Th400 wasnt an option in 84 for half ton trucks. You sure it aint a th350C? It could be the lockup kicking in and out.

    Transfer case trouble or transmission

I'm not familiar with NP208s but it sounds like the linkage may be out of adjustment.

Any good hacks/upgrades you've come up with for our trucks

Without the add-on convex, aren't those mirrors designed to be flipped around closer to the doors when not towing? Like flip the mirror facing forward, then swing the arm back towards the door? Not sure, just wondering.

The height of the filler neck on the blazer tank vs the height of the license plate, the plate is too low to accomplish this. I already looked into that part of it. Whether or not a car tank would fit between the frame rails, I'm not sure. It would still have to tuck up there pretty far and I...

    Another NP203 Question

Yep that speedo gear is toast. For "sleeve" I was referring to the coupler but it's been a while since I've worked on one, yours may just have a female input shaft. Some have shims there for endplay and some don't need them. The only thrust bearings I saw referenced were deeper in the case, or...

    Drive shaft problems

Take it to a local driveline shop. They'll likely have a new replacement part cheaper than you'll believe. I upgraded mine to 1350 with a new joint installed and a t-case 1350 output yoke for around $100.

    Another NP203 Question

Yes 27 or 10 are your options, 10 being for standard only. I would have him pick up a set of seals for the adapter housing, should be a front and rear of the same size. I would have him get the shifter too since they are getting hard to find one that don't need disassembled and fixed up. I would...

Any good hacks/upgrades you've come up with for our trucks

Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but the F*rd Windstar e-fan conversion is a great way to free up some horsepower. mostly on the top end. Vortec heads as well. The Blazer gas tank mod is a great one, too. MSD has a nice digital ignition module with a built-in rev limiter, that is...
