Don't forget to say Eeeyyy every time, for effect.

    Loctite, which one and where?

I'm of the school blue to reuse, red to trash out and start over. But only certain things need worry about vibrating out, and most are solved by the appropriate fastener stop device (lock or star washers for example) and proper torque.

    Truck died today when driving

Yeah, I had to re-read the description of the fault to catch that. Yes, it's an issue at a battery terminal, or at either lug at the starter or ground; could be where the intermittent connection is happening. As well as previous descriptions of things to check.

    Anyone vinyl wrapped their truck?

Interesting. Would it see service as a truck after the wrap? I wonder how tough wrap is compared to the usual life of a square? More pictures

    Wireing help please

The fat white plug screams distributor power, the other to one of the oil pressure switches. Wire color compared to the wiring diagram should confirm which is which. What exactly are you working on?

Long tube headers installed, now backfiring on deceleration?

Unburned fuel meets hot surface where oxygen is hanging around and you get the cackle bombs. That's why no boom boom in neutral, not a bunch of unburnt fuel flowing at idle. Be sure the exhaust is sealed good. Blowing up mufflers gets spendy, and nerve wracking.

    Mangled Bolt Top Shock Mount?

Don't sweat it, you got this. Just follow the previous fellers advice, it looks harder than it is. An ugga dugga will make it easier than by hand. Be sure to check back with your photos of success.

What should I replace (rear drums on 14B SF)?

You're on the right track man, thinking is sound. As for wheel bearings, again without inspection it's a guess. If you are in for brakes, doing bearings then might be advised. That's a part you could pre-order and not feel too bad about returning.

What should I replace (rear drums on 14B SF)?

Consider that until you disassemble and see exactly what is going on, buying parts on the hope you won't need ingredient X is a potential waste of your time. What you describe sounds like an axle seal has decided to go gunnybag on ya, although it could be brake fluid. Either way, in my mind I...

Breaks come on hard when coming to stop sign

At this vintage, anyone serious about using their truck as a truck would change not only the brake system rubber, but the fuel system rubber as well. Minimum.

That sounds like a leaking axle seal contaminating the shoes.

What is this hanging off my HEI?

Could it be an idle stop solenoid perhaps? I saw that in the wiring diagram too, and wondered what it is.

Taking off passenger head about 37 bolts so far

Yeah, sometimes GM liked to confuse the issue by integrating metric fasteners into the mix. One of the regular posters has actual experience from the manufacturers perspective.

Taking off passenger head about 37 bolts so far

Take a big flat screwdriver or medium prybar, put the blade in the teeth of the ring gear straight on, up against the case where convenient and use that to wedge the ring gear from moving. One hand on the screwdriver and the other on the wrench. Do this for all three bolts. An actual flywheel...
