Steering Wheel Too Close '84 C-10

Side bar.... What's the "Coming Soon" trans tunnel thing? Inquiring minds want to know. :Big Laugh:

Leaf Springs + Coil Springs ? What is this?

Aftermarket helper springs for heavy loads. Adding more springs of any kind would likely make the ride more harsh. This is not a potential way to add lift because you'd be fighting the existing leaf springs.

Think I found a somewhat rare truck

    @legopnuematic that's good stuff, thanks!

    What are these wires?

I thought everything for the wipers was in the harness that's connected to each side of that intermittent switch with the heat sink fins (below the connector in question).

Think I found a somewhat rare truck

Wow, that's cool and interesting. I always thought that could only happen if it was attached to a special package.

Think I found a somewhat rare truck

Sounds like a cool truck and worth getting but what's rare about it? Wouldn't the 454 be a swap?

    Carburetor enclosure?

The practicality of creating and pressurizing an enclosed air intake box is zero.

Sbc to bbc fan shroud issues

It's been a while since I had my '80 but I didn't have any problem installing an HD 4 row radiator with shroud in it after swapping to a 454. I used all big block parts (flat top plate, top/bottom rubber mounts and shroud) on my original small block 3 row radiator core support. I picked an...

    Dana 60 spindle nuts

It doesn't really matter but, IMO, it looks like someone has put a nut set off a (full floater) rear axle on your D60 (assuming you're working on a front axle). Just a different way to skin a cat. The only reason they wouldn't work is if there wasn't enough spindle threads for complete...

Needs MORE POWER!!! (Tim Taylor Style!!!)

Are you sure the 400 is above stock? I don't believe they were big power makers in stock form.

Needs MORE POWER!!! (Tim Taylor Style!!!)

You don't have to pull the heads to swap the cam or lifters. You said you have an intermittent lifter issue, what is it? Assuming the cam and lifters are healthy, I would be very careful with disturbing the valvetrain. In the last 10 years or so flat tappet cams have become more and more...

Show off your non-square project cars.

Yeah, I'd like to add a bit more lift (1.25" body lift, maybe) and full cage kit.

I guess my wife’s daily driver is still considered a project but my wife considers it finished. 2006 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon 1/2 doors (full doors & hard top in storage) 3” lift w/ 35” Toyo’s Smittybilt bumpers MORryde tire carrier Besttop fastback top I have an 8k Warn M8000 to rebuild and...

    1983 chevy k30 dually width

Overall width can vary based on tire size. A cab & chassis axle is 63” from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface, a pick up dually is 74”.

    1983 chevy k30 dually width

No, a C&C is a truck with no bed from the factory. Fleet type sales trucks that might get wrecker or tool body beds, etc this is why the rear axle is narrower than a pick up dually. These can come in various wheelbases longer than a typical long bed pick up and the frame is shaped differently.

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

That's a Gen V block which was a short run design. I prefer Mark IV stuff because of the massive aftermarket support, probably more than the other two. Opinions will differ but if I didn't use a Mark IV I'd get a Gen 6 if nothing else for the better (but not direct) compatibility of the aluminum...

Great news! If you're stepping up the internal parts check in drilling the block for the other main bolts.

    bulkhead fitting sludge

The bulkhead plug in my ‘91 had a similar black goo. I have no idea what it is but I’ve read about other people finding it so I’m guessing it’s a factory conductive or anti corrosion product.

Full 1980 square headlight set up.

3-4 years ago I would have said a couple of hundred but everything is crazy now. If the bezels are OE metal and not plastic that adds a fair amount to the value plus as far as I know the 80 chrome grille isn’t reproduced.

I think a rod spun a bearing in my rebuilt 454

It’s not that easy. Throwing a bearing in it might make it quiet for a minute but you haven’t diagnosed the reason for the failure. If you don’t fix the root of the problem it will happen again and next time might damage more parts.

    1" ORD body lift

Not long after he started powder coating he required all of his products to be done in gloss black, different colors or bare metal were extra. When I bought my sliders I wanted bare but it he told me it would be $50 extra, I went with the standard gloss black.

    Longer wheel studs

A buddy of mine used some adapters from Arrowcraft, really high quality spacers - far from cheap though.
