Best way to run power from truck battery to trailer winch. Quick disconnect ends.

Buddy of mine used to pull the second battery out of his truck (Dodge Ram w/Cummins) and run his trailer winch with that. I can't recall if he had actual top post terminals on the wiring or just squeeze clamps. Probably the latter.... whatever it was, he made it work! And he hauled cars all over...

Does anyone make 17" aluminum 4x4 Rally wheels?

I agree with you on the headlights being easy to service on the 800s. Our Denali liked to burn out at least one 9005 bulb a year, more if we did a lot of night driving. One time was in Austin coming back to the motel after load out from the Roundup, in pouring rain. This was in the Before Times...

Does anyone make 17" aluminum 4x4 Rally wheels?

Yes truck Rallyes as far as I know are 15x8. 5 or 6 lug....and I agree, anything extra on a wheel, is no fun to clean!

Looks like rigs I see in the RV park I live in.

Thin stripe, then thick or visa-versa

I would put the thicker one to the outside, it just looks more proportioned that way. But that's just my opinion....

Does anyone make 17" aluminum 4x4 Rally wheels?

I haven't actually done it (since I don't have the alloy wheels yet) but I've seen many trucks on gmt400.com that have the 400 cap on the 800 wheels, and I swear I've seen some on here too. Been told on gmt400.com that it's doable. The plastic nut covers and lug nuts that they go on, are used on...

Does anyone make 17" aluminum 4x4 Rally wheels?

If you can get ahold of the center caps for the OBS trucks, those look way better on PY0s than the ones they came with. This is the cap I'm talking about; Silverado got the chrome ones and Cheyenne and Scottsdale got the same cap in black plastic. The black plastic lug nut covers work with...

What new tools have you got lately?

The left LBJ on my '90 R2500 Burb came right out with the OTC removal tool. The right one....it came out with the tool too...in four pieces, after making loud noises like 44 magnum going off near my head. Pressed the new ones in, and drove the truck for several years after that. Replaced the...

    Leaking transmission pan plug

Well, I've got 30+ years on you...and I spent a lot of time with my folks in our parts store in the 70s and 80s when we had it. One of my jobs was keeping the dorman drawers organized and reordering when necessary.

    Leaking transmission pan plug

Dorman used to make an oversized and double oversize drain plug, besides the standard size. IIRC it was a 1/2" SAE threads at standard, that was a common oil pan drain plug back in the 60s/70s.... Dorman parts didn't always have the fitment and quality issues they have lately. The brand used to...

    GM Comfort Grip Steering Wheel

This is true...but I still wonder if there's not more than one "collar length" on these hubs? I'm not where my parts are, so I can't check and see what I still have. I know I have some buttons left, but not sure if I have any hubs.

    1976 K10 Sport Information

Good on you for saving some Chevy and family history! I'm more familiar with the later Chevy Sport option packages, but I do remember that Matchbox made a close replica in the mid 2010s. I actually had one of these, but I had to sell it. Haven't been able to get another one (square body toys are...

    GM Comfort Grip Steering Wheel

Dad had these on a few of our square body trucks and Burbs, and as far as I can remember he used the stock adapter hub on all. And the Burbs had factory tilt columns, a 79 and an 84(both early and later styles). And I don't recall a fitment issue and gap like this.... There may be different...

    Seat options '90 Burb

Best thing would be if you could source a wiring harness from a square body Burb or pickup for the power front seats. And of course the seats too. That would be pretty much "plug and play". We had an 84 and a 90 Burb, both with the blue velour interior, with front buckets. Neither one was power...

That's almost exactly like my old '90 square Burb. GMC R2500, ours had 350/TH400/4.10. Woulda loved an overdrive but it would have cost as much as the rest of the Burb! Ours was the same color combo, with blue velour interior; roof had been repainted white but the front fenders and hood had the...

    Seat options '90 Burb

1991 is the last year of the square body Burb. '92-'99 are the GMT400/OBS trucks. Seat is similar especially in 92-94 but mounting is probably different. Probably depends on how much fabrication you want to do.

    Show your daily driver

Kinda rare that anything makes my daily driver look small, but it happened today.... If Rawhide (my 97 CCLB) is "Texas sized" then does that make the Sprinter Alaska? It's dark blue like their flag, just needs the constellation on it.

Any Tricks for stuck oil filter ?

I've had them be stuck on really good, because I didn't leave a film of the used oil on the filter mount. I do that, and put fresh oil on the gasket and the threads, and they always come off with my AC cup wrench and the 1/2 drive ratchet. I do have a Lisle band wrench, and another one that's a...

Wheel almost fell off while driving…help

Back in the early 90s my family was going to Oklahoma for a swap meet trip over a long weekend. We had our '79 Burb, basic C10, 350/350/3.08 12 bolt, brown metallic and cream, still had the while wheels and dog dish caps and cheap tires. On the way up from Houston, had a blowout on the right...

    Painting rally wheel rim

Yup those are the ones we had painted Colonial Yellow for the '78 Sierra shop truck. Also had the Chevy Sport padded bumpers, yellow of course, and the square mirrors. Those wheels were 15x8 and a set of LR60/15 Goodyear GT Radials fit them nicely. Also dropped the truck a few inches. I used to...
