    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

I'm sorry to hear you've been cursed with a Ford for so long. Give it time and the Exploder will make good on it's moniker.

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

Ford Tells 39K SUV Owners to Park Outside So far it hasn't developed a repair for the fires, which appear to start at the back of the engine compartment on the passenger side. Of the 16 fires, 12 happened while the SUV engines were turned off, Ford said in a prepared statement...

    What rims are these?

Keep us posted how they turn out. Any idea how badly they were bent/warped (i.e. runout)? I like to keep in mind what's repairable vs. junk.

Do these racing stripes work on this square?

Sometimes the ricer crowd gets creative with zip-ties. Gotta love that attention to detail! If you're going vinyl, just do it!

    Aluminum head thoughts

I put Edelbrock E-Street heads on my Camaro 4 or 5 years ago. No regrets, but I'm not a machinist and can't speak to the quality of the finishing work. I looked 'em over and threw 'em on. They've been working well since.

    Door Hinge Question

In the upper door hinge, why did GM use two bolts installed from the exterior of the truck and one bolt from the interior of the truck? Wouldn't it have been just as easy to install all three from the exterior? I'm sure it was done for a reason, but I'm not sure what that is. Maybe the one...

    First Square body

Welcome! It refreshing to see a decent looking truck sold for less than 5 grand these days. Hopefully it's everything you're looking for!

    Show your daily driver

My wife drives an '06 Civic. We call it "baby dino egg" because that's what it looks like. Not a cool car... Sorry, just calling it like it is.

    spark plugs.... Over thinking!

Man, can I relate to this! I always wonder how people claim these jobs can be completed in a fraction of the time that's realistically required. @SquareRoot forgot just a couple things though. - You'll likely twist and destroy the hard fuel line to the carb when you remove it because the...

    New Gas Tank

I highly recommend adding a coat of paint before installing. May not make a difference in TX, but it will definitely save a tank in MN winters. I've seen new replacement tanks rust out within 10 years or so of year round (ab)use. Again, this is related to road salt and moisture. Additional...

    700R4 Vacuum Switch

@Bruce Wingate , did you get the lock up working in your K10 last fall? I'm currently trying to get a 700R4 lock up system working too.

Vacuum switch, break switch, and wiring for 700-R4

So I found the guy parting out the '88 Suburban I mentioned in my previous post. The truck had an automatic (guy said either 700R4 or 4l60). I don't think they came with 4l60's, so I'm optimistic that it had a 700R4. He sent me a pic of the firewall where I though the vacuum switch should be...

    cheap paint job options

I've seen oops paint at the parts stores before, but it's been awhile. Definitely worth looking into if color isn't a big concern.

Vacuum switch, break switch, and wiring for 700-R4

Like the title says, I'm looking for the lock up converter stuff for a 700-R4 in a K20. I need the vacuum switch, the brake switch, the relay, and the associated wiring if that's available too. My K20 has a 700-R4 and it's not plugged into anything. I'd like to try and get the lock up...

Valve stem seals info needed and is it worth while in my case?

That's a bummer... Start planning for that 350, either saving money or collecting parts, and just keep running the 305. They are tough little buggers. Be glad you're only replacing fouled plugs and not ones that look like this:

    HELP!!!!

Here's a picture of the lifter that raised the concern on the cam above. Notice how it's worn/discolored. It was no longer a convex shape to the surface either. More flat or concave. Another example of what you do NOT want to see.

    HELP!!!!

These are what worn cam lobes look like. Notice the inconsistent wear on the surface. The lobe in the second picture is worn from edge to edge. This is what you do NOT want to see.

    HELP!!!!

Was this cam ever broken in? Not running or running at 3K will not allow for proper break in on a new cam. I don't recall reading any cam specs, just that it was a brand new engine. Maybe a crate short block was used and the cam was already broken in (is that a thing)? Maybe the OP is using a...

    85 305 in a k1500 - wont idle after smog removal

If it does come down to using the new Edelbrock, you will need an adapter to mount it to your Quadrajet intake manifold. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00062YACG/ Maybe you got one of those too???

Trying to drag another one home….

I just read through this thread, and the Appliance wheels on @Catbox Nova caught my attention. I picked up a '73 Monte roller 2 years ago that came with a tired old set of Appliance wheels. I kept them and may run them on my Monte Carlo this summer.

    85 305 in a k1500 - wont idle after smog removal

Can you run it at 1400 rpm until it's fully up to temperature? What is the choke doing? Have you been able to confirm that it's functioning, or at least not causing the truck to die on you?
