    Hello from Northern MA!

Welcome from Central NC. Wow, I was in the 4th grade when you acquired the two greats in your life but it appears you've taken good care of them! HS

Who said you need 4X4 to drive in desert, when you have a SquareBody?

That's a beautiful truck to have as a play toy!

    Scratching my head

Dad bought his 79 new & this has been an issue with it a couple times. I have the dash torn out now so that I can fix the problem again. I've been baptized by fire with dad's Crew. Maybe it'll help someone else along the way. HS

    Scratching my head

As mentioned before, start with the battery. When reading your list of problems I would go to the headlamp switch as all the lights are routed through it. Be sure to check the ground gang that is over the fuse box too. It's not easy to get to but often times windshields leak & the water trails...

A new comer with a problem

Welcome to the site & finally joining in. I wouldn't hesitate to use a Goodmark or AMD product. I've had great fit from both products before. HS

Fair price to switch a V10 front and rear diffs to 373 from 308 gears

I just swapped from 3.08 to 4.56 on my '87. I put Spartans on both ends too & it costed me about $1500 total in parts. That is with me doing the work though. I can look up the labor hours if needed but it sounds like you are paying $200 an hour or better for labor by the quote you've posted. HS

Replace sm465 with a different type

Your post has hurt my heart. That SM465/NP205 combo is my favorite! You may source an NV4500 from a newer OBS truck & put an NP208 behind it but I don't know about the particulars as I've not done one of those swaps. Maybe someone else here will have some better advice.

    K10 burb shackles vs k20?

I cut the frame along the edge of the cab mount from my donor 80 K30. I'll have it to use for reference when converting my C30. I got all the rear spring shackles too. I've seen some stuff from ORD & ORU too. I'm going to search again because I've seen a frame boxing kit offered for 30 trucks...

    K10 burb shackles vs k20?

I haven't done the C to K conversion on my dually yet. I can see that the rear shackle hole will need to be bored & the front hanger/rad support changed. I've seen some YT videos on the conversation that shows this too. Someone had mentioned here (some time ago in another post) that the radius...

    K10 burb shackles vs k20?

I bought the parts Sub with a new-ish 6" Rough Country with braided hoses, raised steering arm, sway bar drop brackets, 4" rear block with add-a-leaf. The rear u-bolts were very short so I used the axles & all under the 87 V10. HS

    K10 burb shackles vs k20?

Regular Grade 5 bolts. The washers could've been a bit smaller circumference & they wouldn't have crushed like they did. When they get some black paint on them they'll not be noticeable. I've got all the K30 shackles front & rear to do my 79 C30 dually too. Lots of air-hammering & grinding...

    K10 burb shackles vs k20?

The holes were already punched. I just removed the rivets & slid the shackle back 4". Pic is still the "52 spring but shackle relocated.

    K10 burb shackles vs k20?

I just used the rear 56' springs from a '91 Sub V10 on an '87 V10 pickup that was '52 springs. Knocked out the rivets & drilled the hole to 7/16 & bolted the shackle back in as the holes were already there.

    Rotted cargo floor/rear floor pans

I agree with @Tonimus on the grinder/wire wheel/welder cure. The cab corner replacement stuff probably won't work and I wouldn't purchase all those panels when I could make some from a donor panel or even sheets from the hardware store. Welcome to the site, look around and continue to post and...
