    Firewall Rust

Okily dokily...so I ground down the firewall rust, naval jellied it and then put 3 layers of 6oz epoxy fiberglass down-surfboard ding repair stuff...I might sand it a bit to smooth it or maybe overcoat with some Bondo, paint it and move on...however I did take the cowl off and saw the ever so...

    Firewall Rust

Finally got around to looking at this a little more in depth..I poured water in the cowl and it washed a **** ton of dirt out of the fenders on both sides..I didn't see any water pouring through the seam but what I did see was a trickle of water coming down the outside of the firewall seam right...

    Firewall Rust

I think in my case if I put a hose in the cowl it's going to start pouring out that hole I'm my firewall!? I have a little and held inspection camera and ran it on the inside of the fender, down to about where that outlet should be. It looked to me like an old mud wasp nest was right where the...

    Firewall Rust

So I found some pics online and it almost looks like the outlet is behind the fenders? Can anyone confirm before I start dismantling them?

    Firewall Rust

So I cleaned it up and went looking for an outlet but still couldn't find one..? I may take a piece of wire and try poking it through to see where it ends up.. However, I did poke a pencil through the hole and it ended up inside the cab on top of the carpet! Needless to say I think I need to at...

    Firewall Rust

Thanks Grit, I was looking for the drain holes but cant seem to find them?? I saw another post that said they are behind the fender shield but I didn't see anything that looked like a drain hole....so does water drain into the cowl and run through that channel pop out at the firewall out to...

    Firewall Rust

Hey All! So I've rebuilt the engine, trans and transfer case in my 1981 GMC K1500 Suburban and getting ready to install. I was going to flat black the engine compartment and was cleaning it up a bit and noticed an area of rust on the firewall. I have never had the truck running/driving so I...

NP208 Blind Bearing Not Comin Out

If anyone else is tying to rebuild their NP 208, this nomenclature diagram and parts list is the best one I have found as it's complete, labeled and references sizes and thicknesses on the thrust washers.. They have other exploded diagrams on other cases as well but I can't attest to their...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Thanks Matt! I needed to hear that from someone with more experience than I! I'm relatively confident in the holding power of that bolt as it didn't "technically" strip but I could feel it wasn't going to finish torquing up. I've done the copper strand trick a few time with excellent results...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ok... I'm getting ready to put everything together and I did something I'm not so sure I should have done now... When I was torquing up the pump bolts, sure as heck the last one (I think right at 6 o'clock), started to feel soft so I backed out the bolt and looked down the hole.. didn't see any...

NP208 Blind Bearing Not Comin Out

I did have another question as I'm putting this back together, I'm not really sure the brass synchro gear is in correctly. It has three little tabs on it that would seem to fit neatly into the synchro ring slots but a couple of diagrams I looked at show it tabs up and just kind of sitting there...

NP208 Blind Bearing Not Comin Out

Haha, I have been a little pre-occupied lately! Here you go...and you can make fun of welding inadequacies all you would like!

NP208 Blind Bearing Not Comin Out

Update: Watched a couple of youtube videos and decided to take a run at it myself...put a rag in the case to minimize splatter cleanup and after about 60 secs of welding a bead around the inside of the race, I used my handy dandy thread road/pvc sleeve puller and came right out! The other blind...

NP208 Blind Bearing Not Comin Out

I have dove into rebuilding my NP208 and I have it torn down with the exception of the two blind bearings, one in the case and the other in the shaft. I don't have a pilot bearing puller or blind bearing puller (I did ordered one off Amazon but it got lost apparently) The case has been given...

    Wheel choices for 4x4

I found these for sale...similar to the centerline wheels... I do like those indy mags..classic look!

    Wheel choices for 4x4

I have the white spokes on there now but looking for something a little beefier looking and do a 2" lift...I liked the look of the first wheels I posted the best and realize there are pretty damn similar to the polished mags!?

    Wheel choices for 4x4

You are correct, mine is a 1/2 ton and I was going to either use adapters or have them drilled and filled...you say no on the adapters eh? I was thinking that might be asking for it, I haven't had any experience with them. Those polished mags are pretty cool 45tt!! The problem I'm seeing is...

Front drive shaft- lost orientation marks!!

There indeed is a weight on the tube... I'm not opposed to taking it and having both shafts balanced (anyone have any idea how much that should run me?) as I am replacing 5 u-joints in total, a ball joint at the H and I'm also replacing the rear driveshaft yoke. All of the snap rings on the...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Thanks Matt.. I have been switching back and forth between that link, a you tube video and this forum, haha... I think I got it right and hopefully will see sooner rather than later! Now I'm on to the transfer case and driveshafts but from what I remember that was pretty straight forward...

Th350c rebuild or just re seal?

If you have the time and about $150, you can rebuild with some simple mods to double the strength of your transmission. I just rebuilt my th350c and I have to say it was actually a good experience. Just complicated enough to feel a sense of accomplishment without throwing things across the...

Front drive shaft- lost orientation marks!!

That what I was looking at on the H-joint as it looks like it had some extra material on one side...I was then thinking that maybe that is the ONLY balanced part in a double cardan setup? If that joint was off balance to either side, wouldn't it throw the entire shaft off?

    Wheel choices for 4x4

Wheel choices seems to be all over the board with Squares but the 4x4 hubs in particular pose a problem for a lot of wheels it seems? It also seems the spec'd centerbore is way larger than he actual hub? My thought was a late model take off wheel from an HD truck to clear the hubs and use...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Hey All, So the place I ordered my kit from said it was good for a 350/350C...come to find out they didn't include the correct separator plate gaskets so they sent some out and they showed up today...I'm realizing that the lockup solenoid gasket wasn't in there either...can I just cut a new one...

Seems like everything has!? Do you know if I can use the MSD fuel pump that comes in the kit with the sending unit?

    Driveshaft question

I had no idea what it was either...we can both thank google! I'm not really sure in what application that 1/4" would actually make a difference in?!
