    Tank replacement for EFI

Thanks! Quick question, do you know if the '96 sending unit will work in the '87 tank? It's about 1/2 the price for whatever reason and looks very similar? Your my boy Blue! (hopefully the movie reference comes across, haha)

    Tank replacement for EFI

I'm going to use the Atomic EFI as it is California approved on my 1981 Suburban...I too got the complete kit and am seeing that their fuel pump setup supplied is asking for failure...is it simply as easy as switching out the tank, sending unit and fuel pump from an '87? The truck sat for a...

Noob here looking for help deciding wether to purchase a new crate motor or do an engine re-fresh

Hey Rock, A California smog legal vehicle requiring bi-annual smog checks is a completely different beast than any other situation this forum will advise you on. Hopefully you can troubleshoot and it's something simple but if it's time to perform transplant surgery let me give you a very recent...

    Driveshaft question

Yes, so the shaft is "counterbored" smooth for about 1/4" to accomodate an o-ring on a transmission. I haven't pulled apart the transfer case yet so I'm not sure if the o-ring is in that or not... however looking at the travel marks on the yoke I can't see 1/4" making a difference either way?

    Driveshaft question

I think after getting an Internet education on driveshafts I have a driveshaft from a 3/4 ton 4x4... It is counter bored about 1/4" but I think it doesn't need it for a 1/2 ton application?

    Driveshaft question

So I went to go replace the ujoints in my rear driveshaft and after making a mess and flinging needle bearing all over the garage I finally had them out. I bought new joints on Rockauto per the make/model/year and it looks like I may have, shock and awe, a non stock driveshaft. The transfer...

Front drive shaft- lost orientation marks!!

Keyed? I'm not sure I follow? On another note, I took out the rear driveshaft ujoints tonight and it looks like the yoke has seen some harsh times..should I replace this?

Front drive shaft- lost orientation marks!!

Hey All, I replied on another front driveshaft rebuild thread but I thought I should probably post my own as no to hijack! So I pulled the front driveshaft (along with the engine, transmission, transfer case haha) and going through the process of replacing the ujoints and center joint...well...

    Front Drive Shaft Rebuild

Awesome write up Trout! I'm doing the same with mine and ordered up the center ball setup from Rockauto...waiting for the delivery. However I have run into a situation...after heating to get the old nylon out, then going to town cleaning off caked on mud and grease my marks are gone!!! Any...

    Front Driveshaft Seal

For anyone else who has run across this, I found this to be the correct part for my 1981 K1500 Suburban: https://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p1464_dana_spicer_d2n_slip_yoke_dust_cap_for_1.375_inch_1.779_id_t.html Here is a pretty good resource if that one is the wrong size...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ran into yet another hmmmmm.... moment....I was going to drill the 1/8" holes in the separator plate at the 2nd and 3rd but it looks like someone had gotten there before me.. the only problem is that they drilled the holes to 5/32"... that seems way too big and it would shift like a kicked mule...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ok...so I think I have everything put back together correctly and it spins by hand (it is a little stiff though?)...I checked the shaft movement with a known thickness washer and a mark on the shaft, probably could have just bought the indicator with the amount of time it took me to rig up...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

I didn't replace any of the parts and I actually left out two thin selectives just because everything was new and I wanted to make sure I started from a baseline.. Going back to the dual feed, I'm going to try it (and your right, it looks like it's 50/50 from the posts I see of it working on...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

I think you nailed it...I pulled everything off down to the sun shell and it spun like clockwork, then I looked at the planetary and it was slightly cocked, stuck in the drum... I didn't get the clutches all the way settled.. I pulled it apart, sttled everything back down and think it good but...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Your probably right given that when I went through a dry run the end play was, ahem, correct... I didn't measure but the value I have is .010-.044"? I've put in many a molding and I know what 1/32 (.030ish) of an inch looks like so I just shot for that

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ok...so I got everything put back together and when i test fitted everything for endplay all went well...everything moved freely and all was good.. When I put all the clutches, pump rings and oring in the pump doesn't seem to fully seat- but will bolt down and everything is extremely tight and...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Is there any kind of cutaway diagram of the lip seals? I've seen a lot of videos, and read a lot, but I think this is a case where a picture would be worth a thousand words in where/how they are supposed to seal. Hang on...I think I got it....your basically making sure the outer seal doesn't...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ok...it's coming along...I think.... I have the bushings back in the stator and tested it on the shaft and it turns but not very freely...is there any level of tolerance to it or do I need to pull it off and adjust the drive on the bushings?

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

That's why accountants shouldn't design cars! I like the idea of a metal bushing too... I will order one I order an additional 2 sun bushings a couple days back too..someone should make a legit bushing pack instead of just throwing the stock ones out there!

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Ok...so I went to replace the output shaft bushing and nothing there....there is a plastic bushing that looks like it fits right in there? The shaft assembly has some "slop" to it, is it supposed to or is it supposed to be solid?

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Agreed! I tried to order the Hughes sprag race from a few different places but they were out of stock...the place I ordered from seemed reputable but I have tried emailing them 3 times now to verify they indeed sent out a hardened sprag race with no reply...not really wanting to take a...

    TH350 Rebuild Questions

Well I've got it apart, except I need to make the tool to remove the low piston, and it does have the aluminum pistons...it reeks like burnt transmission fluid BTW... It looks like it had been recently rebuilt as the frictions didn't look too worn but like I found an e clip loose on top of the...
