    Trim codes 77B and 77I

That paint code "U7475" is the PPG code for GM paint code 72. GM called it Apple Red in 86', but it is also called standard Red or Bright red.

1983 K10 saddle tank replacement with in frame tank

My setup looks a lot like yours, except I bought the 31 Gallon Blazer tank with sending unit, crossmember, straps, filler neck, and all stock sheetmetal components locally for $40. If anything fails or needs replacement.. I can just go into any parts store anywhere and buy an OEM 87-91 Blazer...

    Trim codes 77B and 77I

ZY1: I can't access the 1987 Vehicle information kit and the 86 one does not show that color in it. It does have 72 for a color. Is your truck a red single color exterior? If so, I would assume you have Apple red exterior with a Burgundy interior.

    79 k20 400 running rough, can't figure it out.

That's great! I saw you post in the group the other day and was glad someone was able to come look at it. I'll PM you my info on the group so you have it in case they can't get it going or you need some more help on it. I know a few people down that way that are pretty good with the squares and...

Boy, they sure are proud of that setup... $850 is wild

    79 k20 400 running rough, can't figure it out.

That's a bit low. You might have junk in the tank clogging up your pickup screen or maybe a worn fuel pump eccentric on the cam that isn't giving a full fuel pump stroke. I'm still leaning towards the carb needing lots of adjustments or having something wrong with it though. The fact it needs...

    79 k20 400 running rough, can't figure it out.

Those are a stock-ish replacement as far as thread and length... but they are a MUCH colder plug. I don't think it is your actual problem, but it could be making your actual problem more visible. The R44TS or R45TS are the correct factory plug with a heat range of 4 or 5 respectively. The...

    79 k20 400 running rough, can't figure it out.

That's a good point on having the RIGHT plugs. I run AC Delco R44TS or R45TS gapped at .045" on my non-vortec SBCs that are using HEI. Same plug in my 70 Buick 455

    79 k20 400 running rough, can't figure it out.

You can't adjust it without it being installed on the vehicle. I have the original quadrajet on mine and I rebuilt it myself a few years ago. They should have set the float height on the vehicle and then done all of the linkage and choke adjustments at that time too. It should take a single pump...

    79 k20 400 running rough, can't figure it out.

Where are you at in Oregon? If you are close to Salem, it's probably easier for us to just meet up and I can run through your Q-jet and show you haw to troubleshoot and adjust everything. You can rent a fuel pressure test kit from autozone or oreilly that has the T-fitting to put it in-line...

What have you done to your square lately??

You could probably do almost the same thing for the shell. Line it with a single layer of killmat and closed cell foam, then put up a headliner over the top of that just like a suburban would have. You could probably just cut the closed cell foam to size and then attach fabric straight to that...

    TH400 Information Thread

Yeah, basically. They share quite a few parts. I'm sure Nick could give actual specifics, but I know that some parts are shared. My K25 TH400 has the original truck VIN stamped on it and I don't even think it has ever been rebuilt. When I did the engine rebuild a few years ago I found the...

    Header Gaskets

I'll put in one more vote for Remflex... they really can't be beat. I have them on my 350 and my LS motor with headers. No leaks at all.

    TH400 Information Thread

Lots of the parts are the same between the TH400 and 4L80. I've got a 400 behind my stock high compression 1970 455 that was rated at 370hp/500ft-lb and it has no performance upgrades at all. Runs and shifts great.. no issues ever. My 1980 K25 still has the original Th400 and I regularly tow...

    TH400 Information Thread

Having done a few of my own rebuilds now... my personal recommendation will be to take the whole thing apart and inspect for obvious damage, then put all the parts in a plastic tote with the stripped case and head down to your local transmission or machine shop. Give them a few bucks or a case...

No fuel in carb at start up

In your fuel pump. If the carb is also empty... then you have a leaky needle and seat in the carb as well. Generally you should still get fuel into the filter within a few cranks if the fuel line doesn't have any holes in it.

    Fuel return help needed

I would put at least a one way check valve on it to keep debris and bugs from getting in there and clogging it up. You will get a fuel vapor smell from having just the open line. It would have originally run there to a charcoal canister to control the smell and recycle the fuel vapor back into...

    Fuel return help needed

My thought is that someone put in the wrong pump or wrong sending unit, or both. If you had a return line system from the factory(not all did), you should have a 1/4" return line and 3/8" feed line running from the switching valve to the pump area. It will be steel hard line and will bend out...

Steering box frame reinforcement weld in plates

If you do any wheeling, this is a great kit as well. Allows you to mount a winch hidden up in the frame and strengthens up the entire front frame structure. Also includes an interior brace to the back side of the steering gear. The shackle brackets are really nice and heavy duty as well. I've...

    Where to get quadrajet rebuilt?

I got an APT adjustment tool from them a year or two ago. They sell stuff on amazon and ebay as well, seem legit. They are a bit harder to find a correct rebuild kit for, or at least it was harder for me to navigate their website... might have just been me

    Where to get quadrajet rebuilt?

The absolute best place IMO is the man himself, Cliff Ruggles. He is the author of pretty much ALL of the go-to books on rebuilding and modifying quadrajets. You can order rebuild kits for your specific carb number, get the entire thing rebuilt, or even just get specific questions answered on...

Think I need new springs? shocks? ROUGH RIDE

They aren't always a set weight. The difference in weight can vary by quite a bit depending on what engine/trans combo you have and what accessories have been installed. If you have a 454/th400/np205.. you are going to be many hundreds of pounds heavier than a 292/700R4/NP208 would be. Same...

    1978 GMC K25 under grille

I have an '80 K25, they should be the same core support from 78-80. Mines assembled, but you can see the bottom mount from underneath. Here's what mine looks like.

Advice and Parts recommendations for some 6.2 cam/valvetrain work?

I think the stock springs are only good to ~0.550. I said stock, but I meant the PAC or BTR beehive springs. They are good up to ~0.625 and are supposedly more reliable and longer lasting for a daily driven type of application...
