    Rear Brakes Locking Up

I wouldn't mess around with switching them around. I would make certain that yours are correct first, and check/reset the proportioning valve first. It's a safety thing, and you want the best braking you can possibly have for the safety of you, your family, and everyone around you.

What have you done to your square lately??

@legopnuematic Speaking of half-broken rack, I had that happen on my Jeep one day at work. Heard this horrendous crackling sound inside the column when I turned off the engine and removed the key. Had to walk home, and then gathered up tools and parts and worked on it in the parking lot and...

What have you done to your square lately??

It's a tilt column. For a while I had the steering wheel tilted up, and it was harder to turn the key. I don't have a big belly, so I tilted it back to normal position and it's been like that for maybe 8 or 9 years. I do need to go into the column and inspect, clean, and lube some components...

    Rear Brakes Locking Up

Maybe mine is wrong, but it is as it came from the factory as far as I know, and the small line is hooked up to the front port of the master cylinder. I was always under the impression that the rear port is rear brakes, front port, front brakes. When I swapped in front disc on my 65 C20, I did...

The local mom and pop auto parts store, the owner had this store, one up where my parents live, and two where he lives over near the coast. Got a call last week from the store manager, all three stores are closing. The owner had already sold the store up where my parents live, maybe 2 years...

Opinions on best newish Suburban or Tahoe

Yesterday, on our way to eat after church, I saw a '17 suburban in a used car lot. After filling up my wife's car, on the way home, I said to stop at the car lot so she can see why I am looking at the suburban platform. She was amazed at the amount of space there is in those rigs. Of course...

    Is this a square body?

We may call these trucks squarebodies, but I've heard that they were originally called "The Rounded Line"

I agree with the newer ones being more sensitive to high temps. I think the AW4 would also fall into that category, albeit a solid transmission. I don't want to hex my ride, but my 1991 Cherokee has 223k on the original drivetrain, and it runs and shifts well for a high mileage rig.

There is one just like this that I see near the post office. It's beauty of a car. Get this one if you can!

But, if you don't have a temp gauge, you'd never know and the trans would run decades without issues.

Haven't seen the welds yet, but there is/was a member on here, @donkeykong that liked to say, "A grinder and paint make the welder I ain't." I probably got that wrong, but it sounds funny. Show them welds, just don't grind and paint them, it'll be a waste of paint on exhaust pipes.

    Cattle guard compatibility?

When I was a young boy, this was my fear when riding in a truck. To me, there wasn't enough weight back there to keep the vehicle from toppling end over end when the brakes were applied. I was as young as 4 when that thought was in my head, I don't recall when I didn't worry about that...

    Finally got a running 65 C10

Glad you got it. I guess I've been lucky when stabbing engines in my 65s. Of course, I say that now and when I have to stab another in the future I may end up eating crow...lol... I personally don't mind laying on the concrete, it resets my back. But, spending a day or two on the concrete...

If they are snugged up before there is an engine installed, I can see that, but removing and replacing an engine, the holes should line up just fine with the method I mentioned.

    Finally got a running 65 C10

I've never had any problems. I respectfully disagree that it's difficult. It is when you cantilever the transmission off the back, though. Ideally you should have bolted the bellhousing on by itself, then proceeded from there.

    Finally got a running 65 C10

They're not, but when you're stabbing the whole shebang, that does add difficulty. If you were to install the engine with the bellhousing, you'd get those four bolts tightened easily, then you could install the transmission. You went a different route, and nothing wrong with your approach...
