    Lost gauge lights and taillights

Ok, so , found out tail light fuse blown, replaced it and that fixed that, but still no dash lights. Now, I installed an aftermarket radio about time this happened. I bought a harness specifically for our year trucks, but there were 2 wires not used off original harness, an orange and a brown...

    Lost gauge lights and taillights

So, in constantly fooling with this truck , 87 GMC, I have managed to lose gauge lights and taillights. Headlights work, blinkers work, brake lights work. What did I unhook?

    Wiper/ turn signal switch

OK, so I got the dimmer exposed so I could see it . when I pull lever , the dimmer is moving , but, no change in lights. So , could dimmer move but still be bad ,contact inside not contacting , or would it point to wiring problem? Oh, I think lever stalk is pushed in all the way, I tried...

    Wiper/ turn signal switch

Yes as far as I can tell it is in all the way. So if its a bad switch, is that a pain to get to?

    Wiper/ turn signal switch

As far as the high /low beam, when I pull the lever back, there is no click. Should there a be a " click"?

    Wiper/ turn signal switch

So my high beams are stuck on permanently , nothing happens when I pull lever back to put on low beams. The turn signals work, wipers do not. I assume all that is same switch which seems very hard to get to. Am I right? If so, what all has to come off? Seems like its way down in column.

    temp gauge question

Ok, got it working, evidently there was some teflon left on threads or something, took it out and put it back in. Tightened as much as I dared , checked meter and it was alive again. Guess it wasn't grounding good enough . So scratch that off the list. Thanks everyone.

    temp gauge question

I did resistor test on 2 gauges, one read 85, one read 90. Funny you mention the teflon tape, I had originally put tape on it, but later remembered that was a no no and removed it. When I test the sender , I get nothing, but to make sure , tell me if I am doing it right. I set meter to ohms...

    temp gauge question

Oh, i did try grounding sender wire and gauge does peg to hot side. ( First time I evidently didn't have it grounded good enough, hard to do this stuff by yourself sometimes)

    temp gauge question

OK, so I haven't had a chance to get into this for a while, but, we have snow and ice today in Ga so I am home and decided to test this out. So, I did the terminal tests like Rustypile suggested and all tests passed. So, if that means wiring is all good, then my guess is sender or gauge is...

    exhaust manifold donut

O wait, you mean that there is sleeve that may be stuck in manifold that separated from gasket?

    exhaust manifold donut

Theses are the originals. What do you mean knock the piece of pipe out?

    exhaust manifold donut

Have old exhaust off so trying to post pictures of the donut. You can see it is molded on inside to go over manifold. Anybody recognize ?

What did you replace factory radio with?

So I am needing to replace factory radio. What will fit and not break the bank? Thanks

    exhaust manifold donut

Mine were like the one that has the metal sleeve but did not have the sleeve. They slid over the exhaust manifold outlet. So the metal s!we've was in the way.

    exhaust manifold donut

Hi everyone, my question is about the exhaust manifold donut gasket. A while back I installed a reproduction stock exhaust on my 87 . I ordered new donuts but they were different from mine , seems like they had a metal sleeve on it and mine do not, so I reused old ones. Well now I have decided...

    Intellitronix gauges anyone?

Just wondering who has tried. Liked?, didn't like? I am thinking of replacing my old original gauges that half work, and looking for input on the Intellitronix. They certainly look good.

    temp gauge question

OK, so, I took sender wire off, grounded it, nothing, then tried a ground jumper wire inside at dash. Grounded the left pole on back of gauge and gauge pegged out on hot side. So, assume gauge is ok, I know sender is brand new, so wiring problem somewhere.
