    Slip yoke bushing information

I needed to replace my rear output seal. I decided to replace the extension - tail housing bushing as well since the tail housing to tcase was weeping. I figured I would get ahead of the preventative maintenance curve. Ordered a timken 5208 which all parts stores and rock auto list as correct...

    Rodents in hvac

1982 with ac. I know I should just poke around, but I am sure some of y'all will know exactly where to screen off to eliminate them entering the vents. Is it an inlet underneath the cowl?

    Heat and soundproofing material

My 82 has metal floors. I am going to put carpet or vinyl in sometime soon. The vehicle had no carpet nor do any of my other squares. How much will the carpet or vinyl and jute padding cut down on noise and heat? I am assuming not very much. If more is needed, what is the best bang for your...

    Heavy vibration when accellerating slowly

On locking out the Tcc, it will build more heat but not a problem for testing. A trans expert should be consulted but I doubt it would measurably decrease trans life even if left off indefinitely. Fuel mileage will suffer some.

    Heavy vibration when accellerating slowly

Look at the final conclusion of the thread: rattle in oil pan below 700 rpm. He head a bad plug wire that only exhibited during highway cruise.

Front pinion support 14 ff seeping

the front pinion support on my 14ff is weeping gear oil. There is at least one metal shim in there as well. I need to take the rear cover off to reseal and change lube. With the rear cover off, can I tap the pinion out of the rear bearing and reseal with rtv?

Wipers only slow, no intermittent on 1982 with upgrade.

Take the later intermittent out and plug the two wires together. That will give you non intermittent but will give hi/lo if if the switch and motor are correct. Did you change all the wiring and motor to the newer setup or splice wires? Did the original 82 have intermittent-off topic but curious

Resolved cooling issue-UPDATE post 8-better but not perfect

All right, at 55mph or so the temp stays around 195. This truck has a 4l80e so Rams are around 2k. By 70 it is around 208. If I drop it into d the temp will immediately go down. I believe that the truck is running lean at light throttle cruise. I am already assembling the pieces for an EGR...

How long do the poly ones last? I know poly spring bushings can have short lives.

Resolved cooling issue-UPDATE post 8-better but not perfect

After several highway cruises the temp will rise a little above 195. Not much, but with ac it can rise to 205. This is with a mechanical gauge in the manifold by the stat. I would almost put this in the margin of error but must rely on this truck daily and am fairly positive it wasn't doing...

Putting an egr back on vehicle

1982 k20. The truck is my electrical contracting truck and is seeing a lot of highway miles. The engine had a block off plate when bought 7 years ago. I've got a mechanical temp gauge in the manifold where a broken switch was. I also have a broken switch in the tstat neck. Anybody see any...

Resolved cooling issue-UPDATE post 8-better but not perfect

I did and when engine was cold it would maybe turn 1/2 turn or less. Hot was around the same. Luckily I have a few spare squares to rob parts from before purchasing parts

Resolved cooling issue-UPDATE post 8-better but not perfect

The temp on my 82 k20 has been creeping past 195. It would climb to about 210 and climb from there if I turned the ac on. Idle, highway didn't matter. I replaced the tstat with a 195 ac delco(which is an Israeli made motorad)-no change. The water pump is an oreillys(Murray?) that is only a few...

    Cruising Under Stall RPM- TH350

A trusted local shop quoted me $100 dollars plus parts per axle. I'm not going to teach myself and possibly ruin some parts for that. Maybe if I run out of hobbies but I will let a pro do gears and transmissions for now

Rattle in oil pan below 700rpms

I didn't mean to imply that it was your trans. A down cylinder etc can become more apparent under these load conditions.

Rattle in oil pan below 700rpms

Do check simple rings first. I took my 4l80e in to be rebuilt-had a bad shake in 4th gear. On the phone with trans guy he warned of the very same thing as above posters. The lower rpms of high gear and lockout can unmask engine or drivetrain vibrations. For me, it was the overrun clutch welding...

    Carb and intake suggestions

A 1406 is the first carb I did anything but clean on. It came with the truck and ran horrible. The library near where I lived had:How to rebuild and modify edelbrock by Dave Emmanuel Good book for learning. Buy a calibration kit and your on the road. It ran as good as I could expect. Reason I...

whats the trick for better ride?

Tuff country springs ez rides for premade. Deaver or others for custom$$$ I don't have personal experience with either. I plan to replace the (likely) rough country 4" springs with tuff's as the current ones ride like an empty medium duty trick without an air seat.

    75 K10 distributor issues

Have you confirmed tdc of piston 1(piston stop method)and made sure the rotor is pointing towards the 1 post on the distributor cap? Triple checked firing order and did you replace any ignition components while replacing in take seals? I would also go back over the whole job. Once I spent...

Fuel delivery issues (Air in fuel line)

I'm not an expert but I see a couple points. The electric fuel pump wants to push fuel-not pull it. Try putting the electric pump on the fame rail near the selector valve. I have learned a hard lesson about hose clamps. It's counter intuitive but do not over tighten them. A proper hose barb and...
