    Exhaust Question

    For a single exhaust pick the longest muffler you can get under there.The longer the case the quieter the muffler.On a single exhaust 305 it will only be so loud anyway.It depends on what you want. A 20" case dynomax Super Turbo will sound nice and give a little more flow.

    Muffler recommendations

    I realize I am in the minority here but I wanted mine quiet. I have magnaflow before the axle and dynomax super turbo under the bed just before the bumper. It helps I had two sets of mufflers I wasn't using so there you have it. 454 with long tube headers and 2.5 pipes.

    Front swaybar source?

    Just finished rebuilding the front end,new shocks all around,and an alignment. Rides and steers better than an old rust bucket should. With a front sway are it would be about perfect.. What is a good source for a stock or slightly bigger front swaybar for our trucks?

    I actually drove mine yesterday. And the battery left me waiting for a jump after dropping my son's bicycle off to be repaired. Have it on the charger now but I don't think it will recover. Less than 2 years old so full warranty.

    If your pistons and bore are good no reason to change them IMO. If they are out of spec then a dome pistons that puts you at 9.0-9.5-1 will help power everywhere.

    I bought a cheap(new) limited slip and used factory gear set off of eBay for mine.Horrible I know but I'm not spending a ton of money on a 10 bolt in my bucket of rust. Not a ton of miles yet but it pulls both tires hard.

    Any generic set of headers that will fit the truck will be fine.Up to you if you go coated (recommend) or not. 1 5/8 tubes is all you need.

    That is a mild cam and should work even with the stock compression. That being said it wouldn't hurt to deck the block a little (if for no other reason than to make sure it is flat and square) and have them mill the heads a little as well.     Best Flowmaster

    A guy on one of the Mopar forums I am on was complaining about how loud his 440 powered car was with the flowmaster mufflers. He installed 24" glass packs before the mufflers and it quieted down considerably. Clips were only at idle but it was a noticeable difference.

    3.42 with limited slip is installed and quiet. $150 ebay limited slip and used factory gears from eBay as well. Replaced the warped and leaking trans pan with a new one with a drain plug.

    I fully expect the trans to take a dump. Have an extra turbo 350 to build when it happens. I sell tires for a living so I have that covered. ;) The Lakewood traction bars are on back order. :(

    3/4 454 suburban exhaust, modify factory or strip to new!

    Going to need a muffler shop to connect the headers to any mid pipes. The kit is still useful if that is the one you want. Not much bending up front so less chance to crimp pipes too much. Nice mandrel bent tailpipes are a plus.

    Edelbrock 750 cfm or 600 cfm carburetor for 454 stock engine.

    The 600 will run and work just fine. That being said a 750 would be my choice. If you do heavy towing you may want/need the extra oomph.The original quadrajet would have been at least 750 cfm. Fuel economy is dictated by your right foot if everything else is tuned/working properly.

    Muffler

    Any straight through type muffler (magnaflow,dynomax ultraflow,Borla Pro xs) will give you more sound and better flow. Even the Flowmaster FX is an affordable straight through muffler. Longer case =quieter and shorter case = louder.

    If I were to run a Flowmaster it would be the Flow FX ( knockoff magnaflow ). If I wanted the chambered muffler sound it would be either the 50 series big block or the 70 series for me.
