Online suppliers other than LMC or Rock?

So LMC's shipping costs are too much for me and Rock only has the basic mechanical stuff...is there any other supplier with extensive square-line parts? I mean for the hard to find goods like nuts & bolts, trim, interior etc...

idler pulley question - why not on 305's?

I'm referring to an idler tension pulley on the waterpump/alt drive belt. LMC's book only lists them for the 1987 model year, which mine is, but does not have because it was a 305. It says for 350's & 454's only. Just wondering why the 305's don't use them

idler pulley question - why not on 305's?

So I'm going through the LMC cat and I see an idler pulley meant for 350 and 454 models, but not 305 equipped. I just dropped a 350 in with the 305 accessories...which does not include an idler. Anyone know the purpose of this?

Question about wheel size and static drops

I cant get over some of these awesome looking trucks some of you guys have...question for those with large wheels and low stances (6-8" static drops); Do you ever encounter steering issues where the wheels are rubbing the fenders or frame? Do these setups seriosly affect the trucks steering...

    Coil spring replacement?

Thanks. I made my own compressor with some heavy threaded rod and bar stock, but I couldn't get one of the springs in right and need to do it again...was wondering if there was a better way

lowering on the cheap - questions

I'm thinking of temporarily lowering my SWB by cutting a round out of the coils. Does this mean roughly a 2" drop? Also, what is a simple way to drop the rear about 3-4 inches? I'm also worried about ruining my new shocks...thoughts?

    Coil spring replacement?

My coil spring compressor set does not work with these GM A arms. I've heard that some people use floor jacks to lower the bottom A arm to let the springs out...can they be re-installed the same way? Sounds sort of risky to me...

Who to search for input on restoration

I can vouch for issues with Northern trucks. I'm in Southern Ont and if your state puts as much salt on the roads as we do here....rust can be everywhere. I started with a truck that didn't look bad at a glance. After I did floors, rockers and cab corners, I discovered pin holes in places...

Excellent, thanks. What did you use to edit and label your photo?

    Inner Rocker panels?

You know, there just might be some truth to that. These trucks only seem to rust out where moisture can sit and not dry out. The rear boxes don't rust out on the bottom... Only around the taillights, below the tailgate and along wheel openings where there's inner sections.... If you're going to...

    Engine compartment Paint

Do not use POR 15 on anything other than Rusty pitted or sandblasted material. The stuff will come off in sheets if you put it over a pre-painted surface. POR Stands for paint over rust and they mean it

    Painting wheel wells and underside

What do you guys use to spray the insides of your wheel houses and underneath the cab floor etc? I'm thinking about using something tough like stone guard... Wondering what you guys use....

    LMC Truck

Okay so LMC sucks for body panels... I would've expected as much. Probably the same cheapo stuff that I can get locally. What I would like to know is how is LMC for all the little itty-bitty pieces and hard to find stuff? I'm thinking about ordering seat covers, dash pads, seals and body hardware

    Mounting inner front fenders

So I picked up some offshore front end sheet-metal... I need the stuff wasn't the greatest but what a headache. What is the best way to mount new inner fenders? Seems to me that when I dismantled this truck I left them in place after I took the fenders off. Right now I really can't figure...

Rear disc brakes on the cheap

No worries, I appreciate that. I think I have located some of the scrap yard anyhow. I Don't feel quite the same way.... I think these guys are making the money on selling the brake components and not so much a $10 bracket . I believe in information sharing and as long as nobody profits from it...

Alternate rims on 5 on 5"?

So wondering what other gm rims work well in place of my old 15" steel rally rims...Any thoughts on budget rims (aka, junk yard finds) that look cool on the squarelines? (1/2 ton) Increasing the rim diameter would be a big plus also

Rear disc brakes on the cheap

Looking forward to seeing your posts. I was going to do a full axle rebuild thread on another forum including the disc conversion. I'm scouring the boneyards near me for the mounting plates and was going to do up a drawing so others could make their own. What are the odds that you would be...

diff rebuild - what gears to grow into?

I'm rebuilding my 10bolt posi diff this winter and currently have a stock 350 hooked up to a TH350C. I'm wondering if a set of 355's would be to much for the highway. Planning on using the factory 15" rims and a standard tire (for now). Later will be larger dia. rims and tires with some egine...

    Dash cover

I'm considering one too. Do these go over top of the original? If so, can you see any places where it does not cover properly? I'm changing over to a black interior from the faded red which now looks sort of pink

    small block heads?

Anything 96 and up should be a vortec (as far as I know). You will also need the intake for it. Vortec heads are the best bang for your buck hands down. Power and economy. Ditching those swirl port heads is one of the best things you can do IMO.
