    Diesel in the square body?

    Done the CTD thing before, Other then the 6.5 and the 6.2 that were both less than stellar motors what other diesels have you come up with for your square body? i am researching the 7.3 IDI motor, Add a turbo and they really wake up. Anyhow what other diesels have you swapped in the squares?

    Frame concerns

    I made a fishplate for mine and welded it to the frame then made a crossover bar to support the gearbox. made everything for less than $20.

    maybe you should ge the video of ebay adn just get a rebuild kit. These transmissions really arent that complicated as hot rod said. A few hours and your back on the road. Kits start around $100.

    1g80 locking differential

    G80 is referred to as a GOV BOMB for a reason. If you dont off road it, you should be fin< but they are not trail rated. Use the additive for limited slip differentials.

    c20 to 1/2 ton 5 lug...

    IIRC the upper ball joint swaps out the lower control arm has to be changed. been a few years since I did this, btu it required no fabriction, Was all bolt in.

    Extended cab square

    I owend one and I have seen a few. The problem is the conversion was pretty shoddy. the rear had side facign jump seats adn the body seams werent sealed preoperly so it got corrosion inside it pertty easily under the carpet. sad really. Could have been something special.

    the wal mart tech filters rate tight up with most OEM motorcycle filters. fram however is nothing more than a door stop. I wount use from on anythign i own.

    Seeking softer ride

    I guess I should clarify, I am not talking about 4k lbs on a traielr when I referr to towing. I had a gooseneck with a camper otn eh front and my trail rig on the back. Did the shackel flip with ORD shackels and the trailer wagged like a dog. Tried a 36 foot bumper pull and it was no better...

    Belt squeal is either loose or slipping belts. Try some dishsoap on the new belts and see if it quiets them down.

    Kinda ironic isnt it Hot rod... I got started with that forum when it first started adn was the high poster for a long time. Just got tired of some of the forum politics so I took a few year break. Now I am just an average joe over there. Thts fine with me since I am an average joe.

    Brother 96 gmc SAS lift

    SAS is the way to go with IFS trucks. Dont know why chevy hasnt figured out IFS sucks yet. Especially in the Dmax trucks. Go solid axle.

    81 454 Suburban Overheating when Towing

    I am curious as to what device they used to load the belts to get them to slip? I have heard of belt slip from dried out belts, But usually a little dish soap will cure that till you can get new belts.

    Thought thtat tile would get ya to open the link. Just thought I would say hello from Alabama.I am not a native I am just stationed here. been a square body chevy guy for an Awful long time. I really dig the crew cab. I am starting another crew cab 4x4 build very soon. Anyhow hello everyone.
