    Cool. So the wire that currently runs from the alternator into the harness, and I assume to the starter, isn’t necessary? I can just run a larger one from the alternator to the battery? Or should I leave the one connected to the starter?

    I’ve seen that one or more of the wires/cables need to be upgraded when changing from a stock alternator to a higher amp unit like a CS144. Exactly which wires do I need to change/upgrade? Just the one that connects to the back of the alternator? Where does that wire go on a 79 GMC?

    I don't know much about the interchangeability or identification of 10/12 bolt parts, but I do know that one of the other posts is correct about the ratio: if you have an open carrier, you need to double the number to get the correct ratio. Sounds like you have a 3.73.

    Would your box be able to accommodate a JL Audio 10W3? It's a 10" sub with a 6" mounting depth. The magnet is pretty massive. The net internal volume should be about .625 cu ft, sealed. Also, I'm in Fayetteville. What would the cost be if I could pick it up, instead of shipping it? Thanks.
