update...... Ok, after researching the "parallax" effect, or error, as was noted, yes, it is a common phenomena with vehicle instrumentation. The drivers view of the speedo will show 60 mph. , while the passenger's view of the same gauge may show 55 mph. So with that understood, sitting directly...

    gauges

Hey, that's great. Just bad luck for me. On occasions when my wife's car needed to be serviced, I was forced to having her drive the truck. Working night shift made it difficult for her to drive it. So, the situation went from being troublesome to a real safety issue. That was enough for me, not...

Yep, I did all that, as I previously stated. I honestly took the factory gauges as far as I could. ----------------> is happier now.

longshot.. sounds like the sender itself is bad The gauge needs to be grounded, not the sender wire?

    gauges

When I first bought my truck I spent time on the gauges, cleaning, re-bulbing, even replaced the oil and volt gauges. Sure those fixes worked, but soon after the dimming down of the entire cluster began again. Even to the point of having to turn on the dome light to read them. I decided to...

Wow, 12 pages, and still growing. So many issues with the factory gauges on the 73-87 trucks. GM could have done better, but I think you already know that.

    Cluster Swap

I know this is an older page, and I hope you are still looking at this. For the proper swap you are going to need a donor vehicle with the factory gauge package. That alone does not mean you are in the clear. Your original harness is not equipped to do this. A little make-shift work is needed to...

Here is what I did to get my seating. $50.00 at my local pull-a-part. Came out of a 93 Toyota Corolla. The measurements were an exact to the bench seat, other than they sit an inch lower, and an inch further back. Just cleaned em up, and ta-dah......... Dude, put some Jap in your crap.
