    Parking Brake help

I guess I should have specified. You install the drums, then adjust the brakes up tight beyond the point where they won't turn. I mean you run them up TIGHT, then back them off until the drum will spin with slight drag. This helps position the shoes. Sort of "sets them". You have to work...

    Parking Brake help

How did you adjust your brakes? The correct way to adjust them is to tighten them up all the way, and then back them off until you feel a light drag when you spin the drum. Did you get the drums turned? They may be glazed up as well.

    My Truck doesn't exist

    I've had both a 1982 and a 1983 c10 with a factory 700r4. But I agree with the column being swapped with a van or a pre-1973.

86 K20 No start, bat & starter good

It sounds like you have a problem with battery terminals or cables if you can't even get it to crank by jumping the starter directly. I would imagine that the crank fuse maybe sends momentary voltage to the ECM (that's why only 3 amps) for whatever reason. Take the starter to a parts store and...

86 K20 No start, bat & starter good

The only starter relay is right there on the starter. The battery terminal goes to the large lug, a fusible link that supplies power to the rest of the truck comes off the same lug. The S terminal power comes from the ignition switch in the crank position, interrupted only by the neutral safety...

^^^This. It's not your tank. Either your sender is off or your gauge is off.

    Differential leak

Clean them up, grind them out a little and reweld them. You're not going to put enough heat into the differential to hurt anything since you're basically just capping them with a cover pass.

86 K20 No start, bat & starter good

I'd say that's your problem. I'm pretty sure if you jump the red and black w/ white wires, it should start. If not, your reverse lights will be on, and then you'll want to jump the blue and green to start it. Lol! I'm pretty sure it's the stacked connectors on the left anyway. Usually they're...

86 K20 No start, bat & starter good

#1 - Jumper the wires together and see if it starts - purple wires #2 - at the base of the steering column. It also includes reverse lights - two green wires. #3 - yes #4 - I think there's one on this site somewhere, but I can't remember Crawl up under your brake pedal and find the switch at...

    77 Suburban build for AK

For Alaska I would double down on things as a mistake there can be deadly. Run a large radiator and fan with a winter front on it. There may be times when you're pushing the engine hard through snow, but not moving very fast. Put two block heaters in, two batteries, and make sure your air filter...

Have something i have never run into prior-when cold under ANY load it backfires

I wonder if the lifters could be pumping up due to cold, thick oil and holding your valves open just slightly?

How to support the frame during leaf spring change?

I agree that you need to do two at a time. Go get some 4x4 posts, cut them into 24" lengths, and then build "log cabin" style bases to set your jack stands on. I was in the fire service, and when we'd stabilize a vehicle to perform extrication with Jaws of Life at a wreck, we'd build bases like...

    305 camshaft selection

The simple fact of the 305 engine is that it isn't very efficient at moving air due to a variety of factors. Small valves, small cylinder bore diameter, and low compression are the main contributing factors. The engine was designed to be a fuel efficient, yet torquey engine for pickups. I can...

    Blown Fusible link

They literally are a chunk of wire that you splice on to the end. Nothing special. I guess if you're concerned about it being "correct", I usually have good luck with rockauto.com.

    Blown Fusible link

I would agree that it's the fusible link. That's the weakest point of the wiring.

    74 c10 mcgaughys and cpp

I have McGaughy's 2.5" spindles, 1" springs (I did the same thing you did, had 2" springs and couldn't move), and 255/60 15 tires and have no major issues. You'll need to remove some of the lip on the LCA where it rubs the tire, And depending how wide you go you may need to roll fender lips.

    Fuel pump

The pigtail on the sending unit that plugs into the pump is relatively small, like 16 or 18 gauge. That said, the wiring harness to the valve is around 16-14 gauge. You're only going to need one relay that will send power to the selector switch, and the switch will energize the pumps and switch...

    Starter clicks then nothing...

Quick test. Hook a jumper cable to the negative terminal and the other end to a bracket on the block somewhere. As mentioned above, you must have a large diameter cable from the battery terminal to the block somewhere, or else it will seek ground through something else. Something you don't want...

Show me your electric fan conversion

Ford Windstar Fans I made brackets out of 14ga and welded them to the core support. I like to use parts that are readily available. I think these were $120 at Rockauto.
