    I found using real red locktite on the 4 retaining screws works. Chinese "rock-rite" not so much.

    No - took pic at odd angle so looks just backwards. It was properly installed so flow arrow points toward carb with filter originally attached to metal body. Junk is supposed to collect in empty area before passing thru filter to carb. Think ethanol makes the filter cartridge comes loose...

    Just for fun did the issue of properly grounding the coil come up? on some coils the ground is just made by one of the top screws passing thru the coil ground to the body.

    Do I need an electric fuel pump!

    Someone said running a electric BEFORE the mechanical affected the diaphragm in the latter. Not sure how it would work with electric after mechanical for start ups. Mine now starts fine with just the Mechanical and one pump before starting.

    This is what i have. The HEI module lasted about 1000 miles and quit leaving me stranded. Had it replaced with an echlin (?) from NAPA. We will see. FWIW the latter came with the heat sink paste which was a surprise.

    Since we are fuel issues be aware many clear plastic filters are coming apart inside allowing debris to either go right to pump or carb or the filter itself to block outlet. Even the ones that may still be supplied by edelbrock have failed.

    Learned the weak point in any GM HEI is the module. Failures are so frequent with many that some carry spares!!! Choose wisely

    and then there's the clear Chinese fuel filters that come apart internally allowing debris and bypass and then block flow with the detached cartridge.
