Look on ebay under 73-87 parts. May have to look thru a few pages but that section comes up as a repair part. Or fixmyrust.com. There's other ones too that offer repair panels.
You are more than likely going to have to install new sending units in the tanks like they were manufactured in 83. As that will be the determining factor for working gas gauge.

Is it possible for you to slide a putty knife between the glass and part to be soldered to create a type of heat sink so you don't heat the glass up at all?
