    Loud clunk after dizzy install...

MAY ACTUALLY BE STARTER RELATED.... I hooked it to my hand starter (trigger attached to two wires) and started blipping the starter. The rotor was turning just fine and I heard no noises. I noticed the starter was super loud and making more noise than Im used to. I crawled under and noticed the...

    Loud clunk after dizzy install...

I did compare the gaskets before swapping them, they seemed to be the same. But I still have the old one I'll make sure its the same.

    Loud clunk after dizzy install...

I didn't watch the oil pressure while cranking unfortunately. I'll have the wife watch the rotor while I hand turn the engine over and see what is happening. I'll let you know.. (I checked the starter snout, it looks good still. Didn't see any cracks or signs of damage.)

    Loud clunk after dizzy install...

Well I triple checked and found nothing obstructing the belts, fan, or any moving part. I tried cranking the engine and another loud clunk. So something is definitely amiss.... What do you mean by check the clearance of the intake? The intake is the original, I didn't replace the intake, just...

    Loud clunk after dizzy install...

So i replaced my water pump and intake manifold gasket (had to remove dizzy of course). After putting it all together I was cranking it and it didn't fire, felt like the timing was way off. Then all of a sudden while cranking I heard a real loud metal clunk. Sounded like I left a wrench and a...

Agreed, I need simple and reliable. This is not a performance build, just trying to keep this old truck running. On a side note... Question... My distributor top where the rotor mounts to is pretty rusty, does the rotor makes it connection with the surface of the top of the distributor? could...

haha yes I guess I worded that incorrectly, my bad. I'm definitely NOT welding an o2 sensor. I'm gonna drill a hole into my header, weld the bung to it and and screw the o2 sensor in. Then plug it into the wiring.

Help me ID these wire connections...

So i need to get an o2 sensor welded to my headers. I can make that happen. question is... -Where do I find the wire for the o2 sensor on my truck? -What o2 sensor should I be using? -best location to mount it? I have a decent amount of room, the headers aren't huge.

Wow thanks everyone! In reply to GMC JIMMY.... It definitely feels like its in limp mode. The only code its been flashing is O2 sensor. Is the o2 sensor really going to kick it into limp mode? i always thought they had a default setting it would go to incase the sensor failed. I have my intake...

Help me ID these wire connections...

I picked up an 87 V20 4x4 on the cheap since it had a toast transfer case. It runs like poo poo but I'm slowly chipping away at the issues, I just rebuilt my transfer case so I've been driving it but it is running terrible. Super bogged down and getting about 5 miles a gallon. Im thinking the...
