    TBI problems

I think there's a big ground wire that is attached to the T-stat housing. Try cleaning that up really well and see what happens. I was chasing a TIB problem with my wagon earlier and that was one of the things I did. Of course, it didn't help because my problem really was the distributor. It...

What have you done to your square lately??

You're talking about the rubber plug at the front where the injector wires go right? I'd be tempted to RTV it and then just redo it again if I ever needed to pull the wires out for another rebuild. I decided to replace one of my injector wire clips too when I was in there. I wasn't happy with...

    454 heated tbi adapter plate

That's kind of what I figured, if I'm remembering right the 5.7s don't have the heated throttle body and seem to do just fine. This morning I did have the revelation that the coolant path through there ends up feeding the heater core though, so I probably need to be a little more thoughtful...

    454 heated tbi adapter plate

Hi all, do I actually need the coolant lines to the adapter between the intake manifold and the tbi unit? I'm trying to think about what could go wrong if I plugged all of those holes and just let it run cooler with no heating from the coolant lines. The ecm is tied to the temp sensor ...

454 intake manifold removal - heavy?

Hey all, I found an edelbrock 3761 for a decent price, I'm about ready to start this swap and repair. I noticed the 3761 doesn't have a temp sensor for the ecm in it like the stock intake manifold. I think I'll put it in the extra unused water pump port with one of these...

350 TBI the have the same parts as 454 TBI?

I'll agree, there seem to be a lot of shared parts. The tbi castings look very much the same, though I haven't tried the swap from 454 to 350 myself. There are a few year to year differences I've noticed with some of the sensors though, but shouldn't really effect the breakage you found.

454 intake manifold removal - heavy?

Another 454 question: seems like there are oval ports and square ones out there. Any way to tell which I have? Were they all ovals by 88? Still learning the ins and outs of the 7.4. Thanks for the help

454 intake manifold removal - heavy?

I'll check it out. Got a quote back on the cost of having someone else take care of it ... $500 Leaves quite a bit of room to do it myself and improve a couple of things along the way.

454 intake manifold removal - heavy?

Thanks for the info, any thoughts on what years intake might be better or are you thinking something different than a tbi setup all together?

454 intake manifold removal - heavy?

Hi All, Noticed I was losing a little bit of coolant over a couple thousand miles, engine looks damp under the intake manifold seal. I've replaced the intake manifold seal on the 5.7 before, but not a 7.4L. Has anyone done this - and is it still a one person job or is it too big and heavy...

    stupid aftermarket 2 shaft radios

I did this to the R20, but it really only works if you have buckets. I liked it because it left the factory setup alone and can be put back without too much trouble: http://www.gmsquarebody.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14568

Never mind .... I see its bent at the center for sure. Did you heat it first or anything?

What have you done to your square lately??

Thanks! They are different but that gives me the right direction. I'll grab some L brackets and get a bolt to try and fit into the channel. Did you bend yours at the center to keep it flush with the hood or let the ends be further out than the center line? I couldn't quite tell from the photos.

What have you done to your square lately??

Found an unused plexiglass bug shield for the 88. No mounting hardware though, anyone know how these should attach? I'm excited to find this, it had been in a storage shed for 20 years https://flic.kr/p/L9Mcfk

What have you done to your square lately??

Agreed - the heat has been punishing around these parts too. I haven't done half the work that you've been taking on and I've found myself just staring at the engine thinking ... Is this really worth it?
