Has anyone done an L31 Vortec swap?

Holy crap. I'm at reply 300. This thing is AMAZING. As much as I want to go all in on it, sitting idle for 15 years so far, I just want to get it together. I do plan on once it is together, pulling it back apart and getting it all right. Don't want to get too involved right now because...

Has anyone done an L31 Vortec swap?

My 88 has a cable speedo. I'll have to check the build thread later, that's exactly what I envisioned!

Has anyone done an L31 Vortec swap?

I've been lurking a bit here and there. Keeping up with things. Sripped the body off of my K20 in 2010, with the intention of a rebody. The donor body I bought ended up being further gone than I expected, and I mothballed it. Played around with some gmt400s for a while, and a dentside...

Has anyone done an L31 Vortec swap?

I've got an 88 R30 cab I'm putting on my 80 K20 chassis. I've got the dual tanks, switch valve, lines, and the complete tbi harness to work with. I've also got a complete L31 Vortec and harness from a 97 Tahoe, a lowish mile L31 long block crate engine, a 4L80E, and a 90/91 VSS NP241 (set up...

    6 lug 4x4 brake upgrade

A little late to the party. It looks like Thorparts is all but out of business. Do you have pics of the H3 setup installed? Your original post is missing pics. Thinking about putting a Dana44 under the front of my 99 Suburban, and would like something more than stock half ton brakes, while...

    Awd gmt400?

Looks like you need the passenger side axle shaft for a Silverado SS, and a NV149 transfer case to make it happen. I'm going a couple steps further probably, and upgrading to 99+ spindles, which will allow for the newer truck's bigger brakes (14" rotor). I've got the wheels to accommodate that...

Borgeson Steering Shaft: Anyone ever use it?

shouldn't even need an alignment, as you're not changing any of the adjustable steering angles, unless your truck has been aligned without the steering box centered.

Rear Axle U Bolts for 2-3in lift blocks 3/4 ton.

Not a good idea to reuse u bolts, as they do stretch.

    Steering stabilizer

Just out of curiosity, why do you feel this is necessary? The only thing I've found them to be good for is to hide any potential worn steering parts. Personally, I don't believe in steering stabilizers. If something is loose, I want to know about it, and I want to know about it now. Not...

    Drive shaft availability?

Manual trans is likely going to be fixed yoke, with a slip shaft in the shaft itself. Your TH350 requires a slip yoke in the rear of the trans. Not going to work.

    Frame Weight?

How much of the frame are you looking for? Axles, suspension, steering intact? Or just bare rails? Bare rails can easily be picked up by 2 people and carried around.

    Valve covers

Actually, that is somewhat incorrect. A vacuum pump attached to a sealed crankcase will actually create a better ring seal, and eliminate blow by. Blow by is oil making it past the rings and into the combustion chamber. This of course causes more of the nasty stuff you mentioned present in...

Using stock speedo VSS in place of transfer case output VSS?

If I'm driving the VSS of of the speedo, final speed is final speed no matter if I'm in low gear, low range, or high gear and high range.. Should function just as the original VSS would have since it is on the output of the transfer case.
