Difference between stock air cleaner and aftermarket?

Well, I just went back to the snorkel and fresh air tube. I also cut out the bird cage on mine. It is slightly quieter in the cab, and the truck has similar performance to the open element. Two things I noticed - the secondaries open a little slower, not so much of a stumble, and the truck...

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Ah, then my hat is off to you! Might be the best time to send it out then while you are in basic.

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Not trying to be “that guy”, but it is time to shit or get off the pot. This thread is almost a month old. Every time you drive your truck, you are putting yourself in harms way if the accelerator pump is shot. That means you cannot take certain evasive actions if needed, and unless you are...

    Time for a new radiator

Just went through this. My brass one started leaking. I have run Champions on my 2 other cars and am very happy with them. They have a lifetime warranty. I chose a parts store radiator for my truck because it also has a lifetime warranty and can get a replacement in a matter of a day or two...

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Pluck a $38 carb off a car in the yard and call it a day. Right now just get it running right. Go in there, find the cleanest carb and buy it. Bolt it on. If it runs like shit, bring it back for another. At this point, I would not screw with the Speed Demon, Holley, or any other. The right...

6“ Lift Spring leafs and shocks Blazer K5 into K20

I used to hit more trails, but as time went on had less time to do so. My front end felt looser with the crossover steering (new king pins, bearings, box, etc). Once I went back to stock, my steering felt tighter, and I felt I had more control of the truck. Putting the sway bar back on...

6“ Lift Spring leafs and shocks Blazer K5 into K20

Honestly, unless it is a REAL good price, I would pass. Not to contradict, but thought most 3/4 tons came with 56” rear springs. Your photo also does not show any steering correction. You may just be buying front springs, shocks, and a sway bar drop with that kit. If I were in your position, I...

Desperately Need Help! Extreme coolant leak!

For the power steering - check the fluid level first. Make sure it is full and the fluid does not have any junk in it. If full, check belt tension. If tight, then take it off and spin the power steering pump pulley by hand. Feel if there is any grinding or tight spots. If it does not spin...

6“ Lift Spring leafs and shocks Blazer K5 into K20

Just throwing this out there, but if the springs fit, you might lose some load capacity on the truck. Not sure if that matters for you, but since it was a k20, figured I would bring it up.

Yes, it is a factory pusher fan.

    Looking to buy... But it's a 72

The truck is not my style. With that said, like I said previously, my biggest concern is if the frame was done right. I do not understand spending that money for it to not be exactly what he wants (need to relocate the fuel cell, add heat and Ac, along with other things). At the end of the day...

    Auxiliary cooling fan

They came in later suburbans and maybe trucks as well. I put one in my truck and it was basically bolt in. I then wired it to a toggle switch. Now if my ac system only worked.....

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Honestly, if this is your only transportation, I would consider slapping on a used carb from the junkyard or from a friend and make the truck safe to drive for now. Take the one that is on there and have it professionally rebuilt. I respect that you want to learn and I am seeing the questions...

Difference between stock air cleaner and aftermarket?

After reading this thread, I have slowly started to gather parts to make a ram air set up. I put the stock air cleaner on in place of the open element. Quieter it down some, and so far I do not get the bog when the secondaries open. Ordering the cold air tube tonight. I picked up another air...

    Looking to buy... But it's a 72

What it comes down to is - can you feel comfortable spending 11,000 on that? The shortening of the frame for me would not be a deal killer, but I would want more pictures (inside and outside of the frame). I am not a fan of the interior, painted bumpers, etc, but is it what you want? My...

    Opinions on gear ratio?

My truck runs 4.56s with a 4 speed and 35s. My freeway driving is pretty much at 65mph. With that, I have no experience with a 700r4 and towing. From what I have HEARD (so of course take it with a grain of salt) that is not a super strong trans. The 4.56 gears would likely help take some of...

Roar in cab after dual exhaust installation.

Can there be a leak in the system? Between the smell in the cab and the noise, it is possible they are connected.

destroyed hub- bought new "locking" spindle nuts

I think your best answer would be to call the manufacturers of both to find out if the hubs will fit! If it were me, I would try the new nuts, and get the new hubs under warranty. The slugs are small enough to be tossed behind the seat or even in the glove box!

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

All left to do is make sure there is fuel to the carburetor and move the throttle a few more times to make sure it is bad. Once it is confirmed, best suggestion I can give you is to remove the carburetor and bring it to a shop to be rebuilt. Rebuilding a quadrajet can be intimidating.

    Dexron VI NP208?

You will find this stuff in the damndest places! Could not find Type A anywhere around here and one about a year ago day found it at the grocery store of all places! I thought it was obsolete. Just keep your eyes open and it will sneak up on you! Or just use dexron VI and be done with it!

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Streams are pretty obvious - like two little men pissing down the carb primaries. If it is the accelerator pump, with all due respect, easiest will be to have a shop replace the pump, or have them rebuild the carb. There are a lot of small parts in a carburetor.

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

It is a check valve. Install it toward the nut/fuel inlet into the carb.

Stalls when pressing gas too fast

Start with the fuel filter, then check the accelerator pump. Look down the throat with the engine off. Open the throttle using the arm and look for 2 strong streams of gas (one from each side). Also check for any vacuum leaks. All these are relatively easy starting places.

    After market front sway bars.

I ran into the same problem when I had crossover steering. I ended up taking it off and running the stock steering and stock sway bar. I do not use my truck enough off-road to justify crossover steering and only have a 4 inch lift as it is. Sway bar was more important to me.
