Need help with Parking Brake cable routing on my 84 K20

my 85 k20 has 13" drums and the parking brake cables are not of equal length. the passenger side is much longer as it passes over to the driver's side makes a turn with the driver's side cable then connects to the 'coupler' that attaches to the pedal cable.

    Fender Antenna

for simply receiving broadcast fm radio, you could use almost anything. you could even 'hide' each leg of the antenna under the dash material or along the visor area. the back window, etc etc. if you live 'in the city' or near one, you'd never notice the difference. homebrew antenna would be...

87 burb 3/4 drum rear brakes

!! those are the 'replacements'. i didn't have any to begin with though. i checked the number and they weren't listed in the NEW recall but yeah, i'll be watchin' those. :)

87 burb 3/4 drum rear brakes

these are in the 'webmonkey's k20' thread' the parking brake cable effects the self adjuster. i watched the lever/levers/shoes when a 'helper' depressed the parking brake pedal. I am certainly NOT a mechanic, so i could be wrong. newer disc/drum setups used the parking brake. drum only setups...

87 burb 3/4 drum rear brakes

i guess the 13" drums have different hardware? the parking brake lever in the drum assembly mechanically effects the adjuster assembly.

87 burb 3/4 drum rear brakes

my k20 self adjusters work with the parking brake. (each time i set the parking brake, the self adjusters will advance IF there is any advance waiting to be sprung) they do not advance on a brake while reversing. i would definitely jack up the tire. advance the adjuster with a screwdriver...

One day builds, or quick projects

i built a wagon to haul the grand kids around the property. i used a rolling chassis kit (1 ton) from sportsmans guide. then i had to cut back the trails so they wouldn't get a blackberry bramble to the face. :) i wanted to use 5/4 deck boards for the flooring but none were to be found. i'll...

    Brake Warning Light GMC C15

i have an 85 k20 manual trans. my brake light does NOT come on with key on. it used to come on and stay on all the time until i rebuilt the rear brakes and 'cleared/reset' the proportioning valve. now the light comes on when i set the emergency/parking brake OR if there is a fault noted at...

    Box fuel tank

the term 'gravity feed' got tossed out there and some were thinking TOTAL gravity feed to the carb and some were understanding gravity out of the fuel tank into a pump and then onto the carb. :)

turning off the truck in gear is fine with me. it's when i want to keep the truck running and open my gate. my driveway is an incline so the truck rolls away faster than i can catch it. :)

anyone have a pic of under hood jack tool storage?

my son dropped off a squarebody jack and jack tool today. the jack was simple. the storage slot and keeper were still on the driver's side wheel well. my question is: where does the jack tool go? the fold in half jack twister tool. there is a keeper on the passenger side wheel well but a...

    305 carb issues

i bought a re-manufactured q-jet and the truck starts/runs/drives reliably/consistently. unless i thought i'd make a crap load more ponies, there's no way i'd swap intakes and get a different carb for my normal/everyday 1985 k20. i don't adjust squat on the q-jet. set the vacuum and idle and...

What have you done to your square lately??

as i posted earlier, i rebuilt the rear 13" drum brakes. yesterday, i finally got the system bled to my satisfaction. proportioning valve/block got 'centered' and the rear brakes bled like they should. all old fluid flushed out (back brakes had been dry for ages apparently). the first/only...
