Towing a diesel 2500 Burb on a 17’ flatbed trailer

Ya building a couple little wood ramps seems easiest. Or pizza cutters. These trucks are 79.6” wide at the widest point on the body(fenders n doors). And skinny tires on skinny rims easily sit a couple inches inboard of the fenders. If you got any old steelies from your Dodges with narrow tires...

Towing a diesel 2500 Burb on a 17’ flatbed trailer

Trailers and especially ramps and electrical plugs are virtually impossible to idiot proof from the average person. It’s basically a semi regular occurrence and has been for the 30 years I’ve been in construction. The world record for me was less than 1 day. I actually was the one to go pick...

Towing a diesel 2500 Burb on a 17’ flatbed trailer

Thats funny. Although it will fit. Uhaul trailer will tow like **** because the deck is short and the axles are more forward than most car haulers. A vehicle that has a wheelbase as long as the trailer will be tongue light. You’ll be fine but may need to move it back a bit. You have lots of...

    Brakes still dont work.

^Thats going to the floor. Master cyl is bad or master cyl isn’t bled or air in the lines.

    Brakes still dont work.

If you’re able to fully depress the brakes that many times with the engine off, the master cyl is still going to the floor. Noise is the booster I think.

    8' bed question

There’s nothing special about the bed. 8’ bed is a 8’ bed. Period. There were some factory or dealer packages that included things like camper tie downs though.

    TH350 transmission

The age old question. Trans or gears? No right or wrong answer but find out what you got for gears and what rpm’s you’re at. Then cost vs intended use. Getting both front and rear re-geared at a shop is roughly the same cost as a decent trans not including install. But you could recoup some...

    8' bed question

OP lucky for you the “77” bed is not a 77. It’s 79 or newer which means even the fuel doors/caps work. Direct swap. Idk what year tailgate hardware switched but very likely that’s the same too.

What have you done to your square lately??

^ Well as luck would have it , OC Autocarpet has 5 different shades of brown-beige….and mandarin orange, yeah it ain’t orange. I must be starting to go color blind lol.

What have you done to your square lately??

You’re correct, although looked like orange carpet was an option with my truck (lookin at the options in the Vehicle Info Kit). And my carpet just like that Blazer looks too orange to be brown or possibly too brown to be orange. Everything in the cab is 100% original (except the floor mats)...

What have you done to your square lately??

Looks nice! Hey do you know if that carpet is orange or brown? My 77 has the same interior as yours. Needs carpet. Both colors were an option for this paint and int colors. I can’t tell.

New For Me 1985 Silverado 20 6.2 Diesel

Agree. 25mpg avg is rose colored glasses even if in a half ton with OD and tall gearing. I’d be very suspect of a result like that in a 3/4ton turbo 400/4.10 combo from what I recall and heard back in the day when more of them were on the road. By the same token, while the 6.2 would be an...

Did this K20 come factory with catalytic converter?

Fortunately cash for clunkers hasn’t been an issue since 2009. Year over year, state emissions testing has been reduced or stayed the same. Not certain any state has made tougher emissions testing requirements in a long time. EV sales and EV initiatives and production are leveling off, EV...

Did this K20 come factory with catalytic converter?

My no cat 86 C6P has like 3 different factory heat shields underneath. And the OP doesn’t have the sticker. He qualified that in the first post. And they all have evap.

    Changing brake fluid

Yeah idk, it’s obviously not the “best” most complete method of brake flush but IMO pretty good and certainly better than staring at it getting older by the year. I tend to do a “lazy man’s flush” on many components. As much as the OCD side of me grumbles about it, the fact of the matter is, I...

Did this K20 come factory with catalytic converter?

Not sure why the antagonism for a “few” old trucks that either don’t require or could easily be a model of a few years different vintage that don’t require ______ (fill in the blank for which piece of emissions equipment being discussed). Even the govt has stopped caring about what comes out the...

350 TBI Exhaust Manifold AIR System

I think we’re talking apples and oranges here. You’re generalizing this as all vehicles with emissions controls from the factory it seems. Agreed, if I had a stock “antique” vehicle, as all the vehicles in the subject matter of this forum are antiques and it was cooking along just fine with...

c10 control arms, installed new control arms and now my truck sets to high and the tire's turned in

You need to do 2 things. 1. Wait for the new springs to break in. It’ll settle down a little. Unless you bought stiffer springs than you need. 2. Get a front end alignment. But ride height shouldn’t have changed toe “that” much. Thank god it’s adjustable. I’d probably just adjust the toe...

And yet I have 3 old carbureted vehicles. No emissions on them, and drivability and exhaust smell are simply non issues. Even the one with side pipes.

    1991 Chevy V3500 Cummins

Sort of agree, although I would think OPs mileage should be better as well. 37s on a lifted brick is a recipe for horrible mileage. Going to 3.73 gears is a waste of $ imo. Even if they net you 1mpg better, the roi will take ALOT of miles to break even. 35s on a lifted squarebody brick with...
