Here is a good write up on the rebuild. http://www.wideopen4x4.com/NP205RebuildGuide.html

Sort of sucks because just a week ago I sold my spare 14 bolt dually axle, evidently what most people drop in since they can't find brake parts, lol.

So, I found the shoes and should be here today, but other parts are drawing a blank. Trying to find the brake hardware kit and the adjuster. Everyone I've talked to so far only goes back to '65 and hardware is different since the '63 has the ebrake next to the shifter and is the drum off the...

Yeah, there is a bit not related since it's all trucks, but what a gold mine of info! Even shows the pic of the cab and all the section spot weld locations, lol. I did get the shop manual, supposed to be here today sometime.

Was the only way to get it unlocked. Tried spraying lube in the drums, beating the edges with a sledge, could not get it to break free. Ended up pulling the shoes as the drum came off with the puller, bending internals all to shit. At least now I can move it once I get the parts to put it back...

Pulled the split rims off the front and installed the stock 16.5's from my 80 k30. Removed all the bleeders and unplugged them with a drill bit, were all plugged solid. Brake drum was a bit of a pill though. Ended up removing the axle, hub nuts, then used a special 2"plug I made to fit the axle...

    1983 Suburban diesel on CL

Add a turbo and gear drive and wouldn't be half bad. Had an 86 GMC with TH400 and 4.10's...had to add oarlocks to row it up any hill with 35's on it, lol.

    Fuel additives for 6.2L

I use Stanadyne in all my diesels, most injection rebuilders that I've dealt with even go so far as to say use it exclusive if you want them to ever honor a warranty. I will use Lucas in my on road trucks, but not in my offroad rigs.

Got started on the brakes last night and got master installed. Bleeding them and getting passenger rear unseized will be tonight's project...unless I get the secondary clutch for my sled today, then that comes first. Supposed to get snow Friday, priorities, priorities, lol.

Mystery solved! Finally found some pictures from 1970, a year before I was born, showing truck in original form. Was White, not green...turned out the valance was replaced, no green under fenders or cab. It was originally a 1 ton stakeside dually. They built the camper to fit perfect into the...

TRUCK STALLS IN GEAR AS SOON AS THROTTLE IS GIVEN

The list of things I went over...fuel pressure regulator, spring can fail; swapped the computer just for kicks, not it; the injectors had odd spray, so swapped another throttle body in, not it; fuel filter, not it; finally the pressure test on the pump...would flow great until you load it, then...

TRUCK STALLS IN GEAR AS SOON AS THROTTLE IS GIVEN

Had similar issue with a 90 TBI that I have, messed with a bunch of stuff till found that fuel pump didn't have enough pressure. Could be others too, but would start with a pressure test on the pump.

My brother found an old slide of what we think was the truck, it had duals in back but the single rim style in the front, the 5 point super wide camper mirrors and a camper that looked almost twin to this one. This is a 66 GMC found local for sale.

Not going to be a daily, more of just restore it the best I can. Drive it around town once in awhile, just a big family heirloom, lol.

Mine is long gone, unless it is under layer of foam, lol. Couldn't find even a tiny leftover piece anywhere. I have contemplated going to disk and newer axle since I've got the full leftovers from the 89 C30 teardown, a buddy of mine did the swap with the complete crossmember assembly and bolted...

That's cool, I'm going to keep it bone stock, only thing I'm going to do is the bodywork and put it back to Glenwood green with the black grill. Just really don't know what to call it though since it's like a mixture of a C20 and a C30. Front seems to be a C20 unless there was a C30 single tire...

Mine is the single. Evidently the side by side came on rigs that had the 305 V-6 (so crappy they decided to make a v-8 version later, lol) because the slave was on the passenger side of the bellhousing, where manual is drivers side fork. I just found a reman hiding in an O'reily's out in Spokane...

There are 2 different rectangle masters and one round: round I think was vacuum boost; rectangle (long dimension front to back) single bore one line out for supposedly a 'glide truck (can't find much real info); and rectangle (long dimension left to right) with two bore, one brake one clutch...

Replaced a few items this weekend...gas caps, radiator cap, battery and cables, new antifreeze, and halfway done with carb rebuild. Swapping out the old oil filter canister for spin on assembly next. Finding it hard to find even basic parts for it like fuel pump and master cylinder. The master...

Well, found out truck had sat for at least 10 years. Filled up the bowl and jumped it, 2 cranks and it started, lol. Needs new battery, fuel pump (rotted), new master cylinder, carb kit since accelerator pump hard as a rock, and a full tune up, but sounds pretty good.

Was able to verify that the engine is definitely stock by the suffix pad on the block, came up as F03I2M. Translates as Flint built, 03 for 1963, I2 for december since they use I for 1 and M for 283, 2 barrel, MT, Truck. Didn't have a code book for that and can't find one in print anymore, but...

Nice score! Squarebodylynoma is a serious disease that usually takes all your extra money to keep it mollified. ;)
