    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

I own a restored 73 High boy F250. Use it as my plow truck right now so I don't have to beat up my beat up my square bouncing off snow banks, ripping the plow off the front , all the abuse I won't treat my Chevy to, lol. Got to admit, the 73 High boy is a really cool body style, but the 360 has...

whats the trick for better ride?

Based on the ride of my 8" lift on my 86 K20 and my 4" on my 82 K20, really hate the 8" lift. 4 or 6 inch tuff country EZ-ride are the smoothest ride I've got yet out of a square. Have to load a good 500lbs near the cab to even think of not breaking the springs in my seat when hitting a bump in...

    Carb and intake suggestions

Q jet still my favorite. I can pick them up at the wrecking yard dirt cheap, all I really do is save good bases that have no slop on the throttle shaft, the power valve needles, the secondary hangers and needles and the jets. I only bother with '75 on quadrapukes, I try to find the 800 cfm ones...

    Need better fuel mileage

I got spoiled with the mileage my 99 cummins got, it was a 3/4 ton long bed quad cab slightly tweeked 24v, on the highway I got 22, towing got 14. Often ponder putting a 12v in my square after remembering why it came with dual tanks, lol...only briefly until I picture how heavy that would make...

    Carb help

The hose going to the right breather should probably go to the pcv valve. Looks like you have an open vacuum line on the top back passenger corner of the carb too. Definitely swap to vacuum secondary, mechanical double pumper works great for wide open drag racing or if you got a mud bogger, but...

    Carb help

Those "scoop things" are old Offenhouser valve cover vents like I used to use on my old 283's and 327's that had the road draft tube and the oil fill in the front of the intake.

Blazer or Suburban tank for relocation?

Was the 40 gallon Burb tank the one that came with the diesel or did it also come in a gas application?

    New to me 71 GMC

That's one sweet find! I have a 1/2 ton long bed 71, wish mine came with power brakes. Trying to stop when you get moving quick I'm standing on the pedal and white knuckling it, lol. Is that the 402?

    Electric Choke

That's how my 86 is. Only figured that out when I got rid of the leaky oil switch and pressure sensor and installed a mechanical oil press gauge. First time I hooked the choke up, had to learn what the choke light on the dash meant, now backtracking and getting new switch and sensor. Guess I...

    LED Courtesy light not working

Also, looking at the comments of people who bought this item, there might not be enough solder on the center contact to make a perfect fit in different sockets.

    LED Courtesy light not working

Another thing is if these LED's are the cheaper kind that don't have the built in resistor, you may need to put a resistor across the leads to make it work because the amp draw is so low the circuit appears as open. Here is a good description I ran across for how to calculate what resistor to...

    LED Courtesy light not working

Is the wiring stock? If it was ever changed, an incandescent will still work, but LED won't because they are polarity sensitive. You can use a meter or just a test probe to see if the center pin or the case of socket is hot. Ran into that with the cigarette lighter in my car, somebody swapped...

    Need more Power!!

If they are near your area, here is an Olds 455 on craigslist https://jacksontn.craigslist.org/pts/6135989941.html And what looks like a Buick 455... https://lafayette.craigslist.org/pts/6147728852.html

    Need more Power!!

Lol, I loved my 6.2l in my 86 Burb so much, (severe sarcasm alert) that I bought a crate 6.5l, had Redding Fuel injection in California build me a pump with some nice injectors and put the Banks stinger kit on it and did a 3" dual exhaust on it. Was like the difference between a v6 and a big...

Help me please! PS Pump and they keep sending me the wrong one!!!

I learned to not buy anything from O'Reilly's that is Master Pro. I will special order Moog or Cardone if I can, otherwise I order up from Summit or Jegs.

    Need more Power!!

Cheapest one I know of around here is a complete 72 station wagon for $400. Found two other options in the $500 range that are 71-72 Buick tuna boats that have the Buick 455 in them. I prefer the Buick over the Olds, they are just more expensive to build and find aftermarket parts for.

    Need more Power!!

May be a little out of the ordinary, but my favorite rwd truck engine is the 455 Oldsmobile. Full dressed minus flywheel stock they weighed 620 lbs, add a cam, headers, intake, carb and updated HEI and your looking at a healthy 400+ hp and well over 500 ft/lbs of torque, all under 4500 rpm. You...

Help me please! PS Pump and they keep sending me the wrong one!!!

I just went through a similar issue with O'reilly's power steering pumps on my 86 sbc. My issue was I have the bottom pictured pump, all their reservoirs were made clocked wrong to bolt up the brackets. Ended up buying just the pump and re-using my reservoir tank to make it work. Might see if...

    new to the forums

Welcome to the forum, got a pic of your truck? I used to work down there back in early 2000's over at the Tracy garbage burner power plant during shutdowns when it was owned by Covanta. Lots of good straight-a-ways between there and Modesto for doing the look both way 1/4" practice runs. Not...

Not getting full turn to stops with 10 bolt front

Well, that's where it gets confusing. It has an 8" skyjacker as far as I can tell, looking at the steering arm I'm not totally sure it's stock or not. I was reading up on 8" lift, seems they recommend installing a control arm like this... and then installing this offset drag link assembly...

    Radiator Hose

That is where one of the heater core hoses are supposed to go on mine, the other goes to the top of the intake by the thermostat. I've had some that hook to the water pump too.
