My '85 K20 has a DA6 and when I swapped the diesel into my '86 Suburban I used the same setup. It worked reliably for as long as I owned the truck. The Suburban had rear A/C too and the DA6 was fine. I believe they switched from the D6 to the DA6 around 1983 or so. One could do a little... -

Yours is a DA6, and the one you're looking at is an A6. It's a better compressor, but it's also much bigger and won't fit your brackets. -

The above is correct. Yes, but no. Things will bolt up, but it won't be what GM intended. I had the same issue with the diesel swap. Bigger motor mounts and different perches.- Blue Ox

1986 K10 wheel 4x4 decals/inserts
Auto locking hubs had a 4X4 logo on them. Usually the aftermarket ones are for the rallye wheel caps and are too big for the auto hubs. Sorry I don't have a better answer for the O.P.- Blue Ox

Dash Brake light comes on after a couple minutes of driving
Mine has a defective switch on the combination valve that has similar symptoms. I'd just try disconnecting the wire on the valve and see what it does.- Blue Ox

Oil pressure sender switch and coolant sender what type of thread sealant to use since your not supposed to use Teflon so it can ground correctly
Gasoila is the red stuff that's usually used on fuel systems and often shows up on pipe threads on senders. However, it's not exactly in every store. I'd read the fine print quite closely. It's probably propane or something similar. Real R12 is still hard to come by and expensive. -
Bad Proportioning Valve?
They say it, but they don't do it. Both sides of the system are isolated anyway, and I've never had a line fail where the light comes on and it doesn't empty half of the system. -

The screws are the same. There was a production change between the tapered tip and a rubber tip. If they don't match one of them was changed. Be careful, they break easily. The vacuum sensor illuminates the WIF lamp when the filter becomes restricted and the injection pump starts to pull vacuum...- Blue Ox

AFAIK all of the things you are referring to are on the filter assembly. There is another one of those valves near the bottom of the filter to drain water. Wouldn't it be the other way 'round? Open when there is oil pressure, and closed with no oil pressure to illuminate the warning lamp?- Blue Ox
