They have a significant tendency to loosen, and they are very hard to clean if they get the creeping green. IMHO they do that more often because they are not at the highest point on the battery. I know the hardware is $#itty to save the battery at the expense of the bolts, but does it have to... -

Cab Light Mount Questions
My cab definitely has factory clearance lights and there is a D shaped depression stamped into the sheet metal with a square nut welded or brazed into it. Not saying they're all like that, but mine is not a Rivnut or Nutsert, it's part of the roof. There may have been a change made in the '81...- Blue Ox

Cab Light Mount Questions
The factory lights are screwed into nuts that are welded into the sheet metal. The bulb socket is held by the lens gasket. When I retrofitted them to the Suburban I used Nutserts. They're machine screws, not sheet metal screws.- Blue Ox

Dome light upgrade
That, plus they run much cooler than those little tube bulbs. I've nearly lost my fingerprints on those things a few times and they melt the plastic lamp housings. -

What color is the interior upholstery? I would think that would matter for your exterior color choice. -

Two bad new oil pressure sensors? Tell me I am wrong.
In my experience, shorting the sensor wire to ground will peg the gauge. If it's showing full high even when not connected, something in the circuit is grounded. Although, Roger's diagram shows an open circuit doing that, so maybe an '80 is different. Either way, if it's pegging without a...- Blue Ox

You should pay the GM Heritage Center a visit and download the data books for your truck. If you wade through that you'll be able to decipher all the VIN, SPID and other documents for your specs and options.- Blue Ox

Usually "winter blend" is a lot of kerosene. I've had it happen on a couple of occasions from an unexpected cold snap, right around 15° every time. After that I started using additives in the winter. Same here. We put a seat cover on ours from almost day one. Except for a seam split the original upholstery is perfect. When the truck gets redone it's getting fabric upholstery. And a seat cover. -

Again, there's WAY better transmission guys here than me, and it's been a long time since I've had my hands in a 700R4, but IIRC, the cable moves a lever that pushes up on the valve. So, if the valve sticks the lever returns and the valve stays put. Thus the transmission thinks you're at WOT and...- Blue Ox

My guess would be that the throttle valve itself is stuck. So it's shifting on the governor, not throttle position. I believe there's a kit available with an assist spring to push the valve back. There's much better transmission people here that can probably direct you to thr correct item.- Blue Ox
